Sorry for not posting more....been trying to get my gear together for Colorado. I leave Friday morning and I can't wait! I'm having trouble concentrating on anything else right now. However, after this trip, I'll be in full whitetail mode! I'll be in the woods every chance I get.
I will be back at it Wed and Saturday afternoon to try to arrow a doe. Our archery open season opens October 2nd. I have leared to relax over the years. If I do not hunt opening day, then so be it. I used to really get worked up, but now I just relax and focus.
txmarshmonkey- Good Luck in Colorado, have a Great Time!!!! virginiashadow- Good Luck and hope you kill a big one!!!!
well the season starts up for me this weekend. im really pumped. i have a good afternoon stand with a 150"+ buck hanging around. hope he make my buck season short. and im trying to get it on tape.
Season opener for me also this weekend, starting to get kinda stoked :D Was out tonite at a buddies, and the bow is shooting just fine out to 60 yards (makes them 20 yard shots really easy) Now, all I need is the wind to decide what way it will be blowing, everyday it seems to switch, will be getting out saturday afternoon, and will see what I can do Sunday (wedding reception Sat nite......hopefully I can bail out at a reasonable time, see what the wife will let me do)
Tonight had two doe feeding for 10 minutes at 25 yards and then a small 4-5 point buck came by at the same distance. It is doe only season. 25 yards is beyond my current limit with the recurve so I did not even think to take the shot. Back at it Saturday afternoon.
Good Luck to all who are getting started. I will be filming my son for youth season starting Saturday. Nothing would be better than get him punching one with the smokepole! I myself cant start until 10/1 but will be nice to get out.
Well, I'll be headin to CO in the morning!! I'll be back in town on the 26th. Good luck to all of you! Waid
1st time out this season and i come back one arrow lighter. 5 minutes in the stand, just got all my stuff situated (back pack hung, saftey harness put on, bow pulled up) and I usually draw the bow back a couple times, mostly to make sure my trigger is where i want it on my release. Well on the 2nd pull, I see something coming in, at full draw I see 3 coyotes coming in, two young (small ones) and a bigger one bringing up the rear. The first one is at 40 yards the 2nd one if it clears some branches will be at about 30 and the 3rd, I am not sure where it will go, so the 2nd one clears the branches, and I release, shot looked good, but lots of fur flies, they all run off the way they came in. 4 hours later I get down from the stand and go check out where I took the shot, my arrow was dipped in white on the back end, and besides a bunch of fur on the ground and some hair on the arrow, there is no blood.....little sucker musta ducked the shot, it sure looked good at them time..... Saw a few deer, had a yearling doe (assuming yearling, no fawns with here) camp out under the stand for about 10 minutes at 10-15 yards, didn't take the shot cause I had a wedding reception to go to and didn't see processing a deer fitting into my schedule :D Interesting start to the season....
