    I blew it tonight.

Right at last light, i heard a deer feeding behind my left shoulder. I glanced over and spot a slickhead in the cornfield at 30 yards. I tried to get my binos up and confirm that it wasn't a button, but i was having a hard time keeping my movement down. All the leaves had fallen and i was REALLY exposed. I decided to take the shot anyways and drew back. She was at 15 yards and walking parallel to me, but i couldn't get her to stop! I whistled 4-5 times and she made it all the way to the edge of the field. When she did i let down and tried to find her in the brush. I could hear another deer over my right shoulder now and upon a quick glance saw that it was a bigger doe. The first one was now head bobbing me, and the second doe was stomping (she must have seen me too). Then i noticed a THIRD doe came out exactly where the first one did. As i turn to draw on her she sees me, and her and the 2nd doe take off. The original first doe was now the only one in range, i went to draw my bow back on her and i bumped my release, sending my arrow flying to no man's land and letting her safely escape.

Super bummer, my antlerless tag expires tonight :( i got rusty over the last month not hunting. Embarrassing.

Not as good as if I would have recovered my buck but it gets my confidence up again after the bad shot it feels good watching this one go down in 60 yards

Nice one Kroh! I still sitting on my buck tags. No shooters that have really been around. Only hit that one that is STILL on hoof. He was on my cam the other day. I must of missed everything! Have a few shooters still on the target list we just have to cross paths. I am ready for it and will hunt till last day of season in January if I have to.

    Nice Job Kroh!

I was out with the Muzzy Saturday am and had this guy at 50 yds . g2 8 pt.jpg

This will make a total of 5 times we could have killed him. Twice with a bow and three times with a gun. Glad to know he made it through the gun season.

    Nice work Kroh.

I'm on stand this evening at the Inerstate Plot after The Other Buck. Now that the leaves are off the trees you can clearly see why I call this plot the Interstate Plot....

I think I would love to have him on my wall. I will be hunting until I get at least one antlered deer. I have two either sex tags left and would be happy to get one that will be big enough to go on the wall. I would call it quits after that. I have been hunting my butt off with this year not being very well for my luck. Only seeing my big 8 from stand and no other shooters but my cam is seeing them. Now I just have to cross paths with them in late season. I hope I can hang out there with the cold weather coming in.
