Swapped my cam cards and look who showed up for the second time this year.

I have all my cams out right now on scrapes or rubs (one on a carcass), pretty excited honestly. Two are set to video mode (one on a big scrape and one on a big rub). Now that me and Makenze are buck - tag - less im hunting strictly through trail cameras.

Hopefully my brother smacks one tonight.

 

Well tonight's hunt was going slow then all of a sudden I saw my buck I call Big 8! He came to within 80 yards then walked to the west edge of my CRP field. He did not even respond to a grunt nor a Estrus Bleat. I even tried to snort weez at him. No luck! After losing him in the field I then saw legs and was hoping for the big fella. It was at last light and I thought it was a nice doe and I shot it at 16 yards. When I got to him it was a button buck. I will take it and enjoy the meat on it. I have two antlerless deer down and ready for some bone. I will not be out tomorrow since I have to work 16 hours so my next trip out will be Tuesday morning. Here is my button buck!

I don't know who all is expecting to get hit by this winter storm, but it has me super pumped up! tomorrow mid day it is suppose to start raining/snowing then turn to snow in the evening and snow all night until around 6am. 4-10 inches possible. I am liking my next two morning sits! pre and post front conditions combined with the first week of November. I am hoping to get lucky! It is raining now and is suppose to stop in the next 2 hours so I might try and get into the woods tonight as well.

I'm hoping to get out a few times hopefully towards the end of the week. Thinking with rifle opener opening Saturday and knowing a bit about how the neighboring hunting crews operate by our back land I'm thinking a mid day sit might be a good idea that day on that spot. Not completely sure though, checked cams the other day and all but worthless. Another baby checkup tomorrow. Getting anxious to meet him. Guess I coulda times him just a little better for hunting accommodations

Not the night I expected. Plenty of deer where on the move right at dark.

 

Unsuccessful first day in IL today. Saw a spike today....on an all day sit. Rained in the late afternoon/evening and I wasn't prepared for that. The Weather Underground said 0% chance of rain today. Can only get better from here...I hope.

Weather Underground said 10% while I was working in the rain! then a little later after most of the storms had passed but still a little more to come it changed to 20%. Today was the day it seemed to have gotten right, in my neck of the woods anyway. If I can get my aunt to watch my son @3 today I would love to get out and get my doe on the ground or turkey for that matter.

 

Well I wanted to go out tomorrow but its suppose to be non stop rain all day. I will be going out thursday and friday morning, then heading back north again to hunt for the weekend. The bucks are starting to chase more so I think I will be right on time as far as movement goes. Lets just hoped they pass by my stand at some point. I have seen you guys put deer down and I filmed one this past weekend, Its my turn fellas! A deer will hit the ground soon

 

Got about two inches of snow on the ground so far today, it'll be an interesting hunt tomorrow morning.

I knew I should of went this morning, then I could have gotten eyes on this guy. I've already filled my buck tag but gun season is not far off. He made it through youth! Went this evening, which makes 3 sits in-a-row for being skunked. Need to hunt a different farm for evening sits I guess.

 

Anybody got any updates?
