Had a couple decent hunts this weekend. Had a one year old 8 point at seven yards and saw 3-4 other bucks just nothing big at all. We did get invited to hunt a 1400 acre piece up north about 30 miles south of the bridge. They have some trail cam pics of a few 140s and one quite a bit bigger.

Good deal soggy, stick one of them!

Got back from North Dakota late last night. Shot a lot of ducks field hunting. Should be back in the tree this weekend!

Well this morning had two HUGE does with two yearling does walk in at 20. When I was getting ready to pull back my buckle on my rubber boot hit the stand and made a small "TING" sound. The lead doe stopped with no shot and the others just stayed out of range. Then the next thing I hear is splashing noise in the river behind me. The does kept watching for the splashing. It was Bert and Ernie crossing to my side. They ended up going out in the CRP but they scared the does off. So no kill for me today. Hopefully next time out.

Another great morning in the stand. I had a nice 8 point with chocolate antlers at 20 yards but was not what I am looking for at this time. He would of scored 130 or so but I have a few others that are way bigger out there. I then had two does walk across the field and did not get in shooting lanes.

Well, today was another great day! The same two does showed up and only got to 100 yards from me then bedded in the CRP. About two hours later here come a nice young 8 pointer. He got to where the does were bedded then he bedded up with them. I waited for a hour later with them still bedded I got down and left out. He was not a shooter anyhow but he was about a 120-130 class buck. I will be back at it again tomorrow morning. I am liking this 3-11 shift for work. I get to hunt EVERY morning since the wife is at work and the kids are in school. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Not sure how much I will be getting out in the next week or so, I have a ton of school work to get done plus midterms then working at night. Man growing up sucks  After midterms are over things should slow down and hopefully I can get out there and put a doe down.

Nice pics. I gotta start snapping some like that.
Good luck in the morning dawg.
I'm hoping to get out probably Sunday. Could be cool. Gonna try on a buddy's land. Me and the wife have been wanting to get a hand cam for when baby is due (and I've been pushing to get early enough so I can learn how to use it on hunts...). Finally got her to jump the other day. Didn't have a ton we cared to spend. Got a canon vixia hf r400. Played around a little with it today, thinking it's gonna be pretty sweet. Not perfect, but for 269 very happy. My buddy shot a sweet full velvet 8 pt opening weekend so he said he'll test out the camera filming me Sunday. Hopefully can come up with a good hunt with the cam. Otherwise might try another public spot with another friend Wednesday, and possibly soon an old boss wants to bring me to some public land that gets hit hard for rifle time but thinks it's been pretty untouched for bow. Looking forward to trying new spots. Otherwise was gonna check my cards and do a sit on my own land again soon.
Got my summer sausage back from my bear today. I have to say it came awesome. I will be shooting for them again. Fun hunt and tastes great.

Well, I did not see a deer this morning. I heard one walk through when it was still dark but it is all good. I will try my first afternoon hunt this afternoon so we will see what happens.

    Dawg - Good luck!

Turro - Share some of that Bear Sausage!!!

The guy that invited us to hunt the 1400 acres near Gaylord is hemming and hawing a bit. I'm taking next Friday off regardless. If we're not going up there we'll be heading to Ohio. About the same distance anyhow

Doe kill video. Unfortunately is was last year. No points from me yet. I haven't even been hunting yet! After next week I'll start hitting it hard. Here's the video if you want to check it out...

No. I was looking over at my son, Drew, to make sure he was on that doe and was recording. The other mature doe in the food plot picked me off. I didn't draw until after she blew and just waited for the doe I shot to turn just a little. When she did I let her fly.

    And thanks!

Well it looks as if I will be back at it again in the morning! I want to draw blood bad and the only two shots I had are bucks that are too small.
