Looking forward to watching that turkey vid. We have lots of turkeys on camera where we are hunting now. So I will be buying a fall tag most likely. Starting to get a few light rain drops right now. Weather man says it should hold off until 8 but the radar is looking like it will be heavy soon.... Fingers crossed. Cousin is just looking for a decent doe for his first so we are set up near an apple orchard that sees a decent amount of daytime activity. As long as it doesn't rain to hard I will get it on film if it happens.

The rain has been really coming down the last 45 mins. Sticking it out though. That magic time is just starting.

Good video. I liked it. Looks like there's quite a few Siman Bros.

I started tonight on the ground in the brush and shoulda stuck it out but switched to a tripod stand on the corner of the field. Had a handful of forks and a doe and fawn in front of me, but just before dark I watched 3 nice bucks parade past the brush spot. Tomorrow I will stick it out. The tripod was more comfortable but I knew better

    Good luck tomorrow.

Unfortunately I was called to work today and I am out of town. So, no hunting tomorrow for opening day. Monday hopefully.

Skunked. Rained hard on us until the end of shooting light. We will be out again in the morning. Rain is suppose to stop an hour or two before sunrise so that should get them up on their feet and moving around.

Hunt pretty much was done ten min before it got started. Gonna hope for tonight to go good. I have this big round, maybe 25 ft diameter piney kind of shrub tree at the corner of the yard into the field. I cleared a little out from inside and makes a nice ground blind. Probably would be best for rifle but this early they come close enough for bow. I got in earlier than usual figuring if the deer are spooked in the morning they're on their way out for the day anyway and won't come back. Ten min before light my cat, who decided to hunt that tree too for some quality time with me, decided to start screeching at me. Needless to say the one doe who was roaming close enough freaked and cleared the few left off the field. Last year one of the others followed me 400 yards to other stand and did same. No big deal I guess, just woulda rather stayed in bed since it sucks out to have that.
Seems like people are out doing some killing though. Last night coming in heard shots and truck take off. Around 11 heard some more, and same at 5 this morning. Hoping to get deer done then focusing on them

That sucks Turro. Me and the cousin are tucked in our ground blind. Weather man was calling for rain right up to sunrise so we decided to sit in the blind. The rain has all but stopped now just as they said so I am having a little remorse. I like being twenty feet up much more then being in a blind. Either way we are hunting so I am not going to complain to much. The trail camera 50 yards away has shown deer in this clearing to as late as 9:50am so we will be sitting for awhile, especially with the rain we had all night, should make for some good morning activity now that its letting up.

Good luck MN. Sitting out in that I sure like the stand and no rain better too. Thought I had luck change for a bit and had 30 geese drop in twenty min ago. Grabbed the shotgun since I had grabbed my license the other day figured I'd have a shot. Til my gun jammed and they made a safe escape... I had said I was gonna use my bow on them and shoulda held to it, at least coulda had a better chance. Hoping all this pissing and moaning leads to a successful evening hunt

Nothing happening again this morning. We pulled cards today. The clearing has been seeing deer every night and almost every morning for the past month (not always during shooting light). that clearing has not see a deer day or night for the past 3 days according to the camera. we changed batteries and slightly moved a couple cams so hopefully the absence of deer from the last few days will change for my cousin next weekend.

Wanted to get a doe for the freezer, mixed up the two I was watching I guess and got this monster instead. Both their heads were blocked by the hay in the field and I had a bad view from ground. Guess on the plus side its some points for the team and will taste great. Also pretty happy both my first bow kills, bear and now deer, were good clean kills. I couldn't find my official measuring equipment, but I think rough estimate has to be 160 inches or so....

Thank ya. Woulda been nice sticking one of my shooters for some bigger points but guess its on the board. Tomorrow gotta help a buddy track his. The trail started bloody then little less and flashlights were dying so decided instead of pushing it we'd be out in the morning, and its good and cool out. He hit with a toxic after he saw what I did to my bear with it. Said good hit but not best penetration. I had easy passthrough with rage 2 blade chisel tip. Didn't touch bone or anything though. Another buddy sent me his kill. Nice 8 pt in velvet. So not bad opening weekend

You got plenty of time to put down one of the shoots you want so I wouldnt worry much about that. Good luck to you guys in the morning though too. Hope you guys find the deer.

Yeah, I can be a lot pickier now that I know there's meat, and takes the pressure of first shot away. Its been great getting out and seeing action.
Thanks. I think we'll do OK finding his. With how the layout is where it was it kinda limits where he can go. We have time too.
The feeling bowhunting is definitely better than any other hunting I've done. Hooked for sure.
