I just realized I have been up here a whole hour and a half and haven’t seen a single squirrel and this spot is normally overflowing with the furry little bastards. Not sure if that is a good sign or a bad one.
Got my first photo of fighting bucks last night. Won’t be long until they start looking for that first doe in heat!
Hope you guys had some opportunities tonight, I should be out this week. Let’s get our does knocked out. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting .com Forums
Got to my spot and there were 8 does and a young buck right in front of my stand. I backed out and went looking for a big bear but that was a bust. Bear in the a.m., deer tomarro evening hopefully.
Seen lots of does, a little forkie, and a big 6-pointer (well, big for a 6-pointer) this morning but I just got blown out by a spotted fawn. Damn thing walked right under my stand and stopped directly underneath me and just sat there for 2-3 minutes blowing like crazy than ran off. There were 4 doe’s nearby and they didn’t seem very concerned about it, they eventually left but didn’t go running off tails up. They just kind of casually walked off like they would any other time they were done eating and ready to move on to the next stop. Thinking I might stick it out a while longer since the adult deer seem to just ignore that little fawn.
They train the young early their, it will be sporting when it happens Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting .com Forums
Oh man, the forkie and the 6 pointer returned with a pair of spikes to put on a show for me. They spent the past hour or so right in front of my stand taking turns sparring with each other.
I can't remember the last time it's been this slow for me hunting. We are having the warmest October I can ever remember and east wind most days. Plants that bloom in the spring are blooming right now. Things are looking up for this week and are starting to cool off. Scrapes are popping up so I think this cold front should get them moving.
I'll probably get back out there this weekend, but not sure. Wanting to get the grandsons out cause that split G2 tank is still showing himself quite a bit. He is a tank of a deer.
I wont be out for myself until after Saturday. Last cross country meet is that afternoon. Then its balls to the wall for me and my son after that. Bucks are kinda hard to find right now because of all the acorns dropping. They can be anywhere right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here’s my bear, one of three I think, makes it a little dicey when I’m in deep Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting .com Forums
That is awesome. I would love to get me a bear. Went to an outfitter last fall for my first ever bear hunt and only seen one bear about 200 yards away.
I sat in a small woodlot on Base that is the crossroads for three bedding areas. I killed a nice 10 in there several years ago, and have seen several shooters pass through over the years... nada tonight. -fsh
