I think that’s everyone, you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to. Just went ahead and made one for everyone! Shawn did you update the teams list thread letting LC know our team name, captain, and that everyone is here? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Looks like we're ready to go. Now who is going to draw first blood. I'd say it will be me but I have to wait until 9/25 so it probably won't be me. You guys that have these earlier start dates get out there and nail one!!!!!
I am really wanting to get one in velvet. Ive got some buddies in KY I may have to hit up but they are about all out here where I am at in Ohio. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Would love to take buck in velvet. I did hunt in Kentucky once and had a chance at a little 6 point in velvet but I passed on him. Was hoping for at least a 2 year old 8 or bigger.
My season opens 9/11. If I have a doe in range I’ll be taking the shot. Looking to fill the freezer this season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What’s the craziest deer story everyone has? Doesn’t have to be a big buck either. Anyone shoot a crazy old deer or shoot a bucket list buck? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Kind of hard to describe. It’s Kind of like a milder version of waterfowl. Or maybe what you would get if you crossed dark meat chicken with pork. The most common way you’ll see them prepared is dove poppers - basically a bacon wrapped jalapeño popper, with cream cheese and a dove breast inside. There are lots of other awesome ways to prepare them, but probably 75% or more of all the doves that get shot in America end up as dove poppers.
I made a textbook quality 30yd Texas heart shot on a really obnoxious squirrel using my 300 winmag once. It basically exploded and the only thing left were the back legs. I was in a stand hunting for deer at the time so I think that kind of counts as a deer hunting story.
(Well done 'possum!) Shawn - I can't describe how great dove tastes. I've eaten a lot of different wild game in my life, from ground hog and muskrat to moose and elk. I rate dove at the top of them all... (I stuff plucked dove with a wild rice/shiitake mushroom/apple/onion mix and bake them with bacon draped over the birds. Hard to beat dove poppers too...) -fsh
