Havn't been out in the woods for a few weeks now. Just picked up the permits to hunt the nearby military installation this morning. Weather looks good for tomorrow morning so I'll be trying my luck on new deer woods. I've lived in Florida for about 15 years now and never hunted locally. Hoping to help put some points on the board. Been out three weekends since season started, so far Deer-3pts, Me-0pts. Why do we torture ourselves. I'M JUST ASKING FOR 50 PTS!!!!! Wish me luck.

It almost happened. Saturday night I set up on this scrape line. This doe picks me off, I still don't know how she saw me, she stomping and head bobbing. 5 minutes into this I she a buck pop out following her tracks, I need this doe to leave asap. I have a 30 minutes of light left and she spent the whole time 15 yards away from me. He got within 30 yards he needed to take 2 more steps but he just didn't do it.

This area is hot I'll be up there Friday afternoon.

Congrats on the doe. Sat. morning I seen a couple does and fawns but no shot. Sat evening I saw 1 doe but she stuck to the thick stuff and didn't present a shot. Couple minutes after she left I had a big bobcat come in to 15yds. First one I've seen in person. That was pretty cool. Took a video of him with my phone. Sunday morning was pretty slow but did get a pic of a nice 8pt checking my mock scrape on another farm during daylight. These next couple weeks should be awesome

Here is a couple pics from my stand that I think will be really good the next couple weeks.

The stand is setup on a ridgeline that drops off steep to a samp bottom on one side and thick bedding area to the top. The only way to get from one side to the other is to take the crossing at each end of the swamp which is around 500yds long. On the opposite side of the hill from me there is a pine thicket that extends the whole length of the swamp. The trail 20yds in front of me that is leading down to the crossing is so worn down it looks like a cattle trail. Many trails meet at this crossing.

View to my left looking down to the crossing with the pines on the opposie side

    Muskystand2.jpg

View to my right looking up into the bedding area

    Muskystand1.jpg

Can only hunt this stand with a S SW or W wind. Those winds will be blowing from the bedding area to me. Hoping to ground check a buck cruising down wind checking for does.

Well things have been really slow for me. Ive only seen one deer in a bunch of sits. This corn still being up is killing me but im being told most of it should be off by this weekend. However i got a real stud on camera, although its still during the night ive had people tell me they have seen him during the day.[IMG]

Team - I have not been able to check in much due to travel with work and family. That said, I have not had any luck because...I have not been able to get out. Just an tough year for timing.

Hope to get out and get lucky soon!

Got a doe Saturday morning, gonna have to make a physical trip over to my Dad's place to get the photos, he keeps sending me 'email' sized pictures that really look awful.

Got the kill on video, but not sure where to post a 1.3Gb file......need to upgrade my OS to win7 to be able to convert a mov to avi file so I can edit the thing down........

Anyways add 50 more points, got the next two weeks off, finally saw something interesting today, a nice 9 pointer (broken brow, would have been a 5x5) right around 20" wide and probably in the 140-150 range.....

Pictures posted, pretty cool morning, ever see a deer and just 'know' it is going to come in?

That is what this doe was like, saw her out about 100 yards, no reason to think she was going to come in range, but I just knew she was going to come over, if she wasn't going to present a great shot opportunity she was going to walk, but when she came in at 17 yards, broadside, and her head behind a tree, just to nice to pass up.

Doublelung, slightly back (2 blade rage ended up slitting the top of the stomach) first year with the 2 blade rage, monster blood trail, started to wonder at about 60 yards out when there was corn in the blood, but found her about 20 yards after that.

I had been using 3 blade rages for the last 3 years, 5/6 of the deer I had shot with those either went down in sight of the stand, (4 of them) or I heard them fall (1 of them) but not a single one of them what you would call a blood trail, I wanted to try something different.

The boys came out with grandpa and helped track it, the did a good job, they found her.

Nice Job on the doe Wiaxle!

Just a quick hunt Saturday - saw a few - and my Dad got a doe with his new bow so I got down early to help (and share our celebratory beer).

Today was apparently "the day" around here with a rain shower moving through at first light - of the 4 buddies I know that were hunting this morning - A nice 8pt and big 11pt were taken, and the other 2 either had bucks fighting or all out doe chasing...it's that time of year. Need to try and get out all I can over next 2.5 weeks...out gun season starts Nov 18th.

Who's going to post the first bone for Team 17?

Ain't gonna be me (I would be willing to bet) either I will be taking something in the 160 range this year (personal goal) or gonna do some culling in the late season, and since I haven't seen anything of that size this year in our woods, probably not going to happen, maybe get some points on the board late though, got a couple running around that we have the green light from the land owner that he wants out of there.

I'm getting close just not close enough. Had an encounter with a buck last night just not big enough. I'm heading back out Thursday through sunday. I got high hopes one of the bucks I'm chasing shows up in daylight.

    Congrat's on the doe

Spent most of the evening trying to get this thing to work, will see if it did...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTFBkjkS8DE

cause I don't know how to embed a video.......

Used a Contour HD 1080p, mounted on the side of my head, big drawback is it doesn't have any sort of zoom.

The doe was about 17 yards away, tail end of the video you can see its tail in the distance, ran about 30-40 yards further and expired. If the sun wouldn't have been out and where it was, probably would have seen it fall over...

Nice, us guys that are do-it-yourself filmers don't have much choice. It is hard enough sometimes just getting the camera turned on before the deer presents a shot let alone zoom. I use the Playsport camera with a Insane Archery Camera mount on my bow and I zoom up to 3x depending on where I think I will see the deer. Good job on the vid it's really the best you will do with a small camera and still adds more of a challenge. Congrats on the Doe!!!:)

Vacation starts tomorrow at 11:00a.m. Off for 11 days. Couple guys are already at camp and between 4 of them, 3 seen shooters this morniing but no shots. I have a feeling I will be letting an arrow fly this weekend! I have four farms that range from 35 acres to 2800 acres to hunt the next 11 days with many good bucks on all properties. Washing clothes and packing up the truck and trailer tonight. Hoping to be in the stand by 1:30 tomorrow afternoon. I'll try to keep the team updated from my phone when I have service. Goodluck fellas!!!!!!

Had to edit out about 21 minutes of footage leading up to that 20 seconds of video I posted :D

I got the camera on pretty much whenever I see a deer regardless how far out they are....

Neighbour calls me at 10 yesterday morning. He says the deer are on the move I blow off work and head up. We move a stand for him and I hop in a different one. About 20 minutes later I here grunting from his stand. I get a text from him 8 headed towards you. He got close but just too small. This morning has been action packed we'll see what happens.
