Back after a buck in the morning before gun season in md. Hoping it works out, then in the goose blind for the first time in the afternoon have a few hundred birds dropping in on a field by the house.

Happy thanksgiving everyone. I wasn't able to get 50 points, as I saw only a few mule deer.
I was blessed with a 5 point bull though [IMG][IMG][IMG]
    [IMG][IMG]

I also got last years stuff back which is on the pool table.

I had a blast with my dad even though i didn't find the giant bull that I hit.

Once gun season started here it has been a disaster. My last picture of my biggest buck was on gun opener walking onto the neighbors. I wouldn't care if the neighbor to the west got him because he puts as much effort in as we do. But the neighbors to the north west are complete ****** bag hunters. It is a lot of BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM! The neighbor to the west has already found two BIG 3 1/2 year olds dead on his ground. He talked to them and they haven't killed anything big so I am afraid the buck I followed all summer is most likely lying dead somewhere and they don't even know it. I leave for Iowa in less than 2 weeks for the second shotgun season so I won't be back to my lease to bowhunt until late December. Probably going to go after that big 6 pointer that we think is at least 7 1/2 years old.

Man, sorry to hear that. Gun season is rough. It's rough putting out so much effort growing these deer and having them just start missing. I have four now that I haven't seen lately, all four were some of my top bucks. I'm hoping the rut is the cause but I have one neighbor that is a "miracle hunter" that somehow seems to shoot all the super three year olds and also all the best bucks around and all they have is an 80 acres of grazed in the ground pasture next to the ranch and another 80 acres on the other side of a highway that most of the ranch deer don't venture across much because all the best food is on our side. I have to wonder how the hell this guy ends up killing all these deer. I have not talked to him this year, pissed him off when we put up no trespassing signs on our ajoining fence so he stopped texting me. Last pic I got from him last year was of a three year old stud that his boy shot and the recover pic was on our side of the fence. I never got a call or anything.

Last day of VT gun season buck only. I'm out with my bow for a couple hours. New place. Posted private land I got permission for. Been seeing many deer coming out at last light but they were too far away to tell what they were. Put up a stand. Next weekend starts late archery and muzzleloader.

Got a nice young 9-pointer I saw yesterday morning and the morning before take the same trail both days on public land. When he got to me, he was on private about 90 yds north. He looks relaxed and pretty sure I found his bedding spot with rubs everywhere. Gonna put a stand up in the one tree possible over there and hunt it when I get a north wind next weekend hopefully.

I can not believe it is almost December and with the weather it is too warm to hunt, I took the air conditioner out of the shop when it was cold so with the warm weather I don't want to shoot a deer.

Yep, I'm enjoying the warm weather...go global warming!
All kidding aside, I'm going to build a walk in cooler for next year. I'll be damned if I lose another top hitlist buck to a neighbor because I was too busy to hunt and it was too warm to keep a carcass overnight.

Besides, I may start processing my own beef and pork and a cooler would be infinitely handy for that.

This one was taken about 400 yds from my stand on the neighboring property to the northwest. Never saw him during the season, only heard about him. Not the one I got footage of late October, so hopefully he’s still alive for this late season bow run I’m about to go hardcore on.
This next pic is of the 9 point I got footage of Saturday morning and Sunday morning. Definitely chasing him on public the rest of the season as well. [IMG]

Be careful and check yourselves. With the warm weather here in Illinois, the ticks are out again. Found this one today.
