Headed back to NJ Wednesday. Bucks are rutting big time. Archers are shooting some huge Bucks there right now. I'll be making all day sits Thursday through Saturday, as well as Wednesday afternoon and Sunday morning. Deer movement calendar has the period marked as the best of the season especially Friday and Saturday. Sunday morning may be the kicker though as there are going to rain showers and 58 Saturday and then the high temp is dropping 15 degrees for Sunday.
I will be out as well. Finally back from Iowa and I will be in the stand tonight and tomorrow night with the bow. Wednesday is gun opener so really hoping these next 2 days will be golden before the deer are really on edge Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Driving me nuts I still haven’t got my score or euromount back yet !!! I wanna hold the rack again!! Mike4christ 2016 Bear Escape Easton FMJ 6mm NAP Doublecross
Is this for the buck you just shot? What kind of turn around time did they give you? I would think it would be a few months, at best. Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
It'll take a while to get the mount back but the score should be a quick thing for your guy to get to you, be sure to tell him you want a green score or he'll wait until it's dried enough for an official score...which isn't needed for the contest purposes.
Oh no he’s quick on the draw with European mounts a week or two. Shoulder mounts are about 5 months but I only got a European mount. Here’s my official trophy picture! And a picture of the 8 point my brother in law shot todsy(wish I could have held the head up to really show the rack better but he was stiff as a rock!)lol And here’s my brother in laws ..........mines bigger...hehehehehe Mike4christ 2016 Bear Escape Easton FMJ 6mm NAP Doublecross
5 months, that's quick. I'll probably get mine back in October of next year. Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Buddy of mine killed it...191. Taken less than 300 yards from where I shot a buck 3 years ago. Real dandy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Well... deer were everywhere tonight. They’re finally cutting corn so I need to go back out tomorrow night. Didn’t see a shooter but many small bucks still chasing does and making scrapes. Actually enjoyed just sitting and watching them all from a distance. Once all the corn is down, that place will be golden. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Vacation is over, back to hunting just Sunday and mondays. I might do a little hunting during the week on my land but I’m trying to build the heard a little so it would need to be special for me to take it. I still have a vacation the 1st week of January and will be hunting almost daily again for that so still plenty of time yet.
Okay guys so my butcher will only do a gross score which I’m guessing isn’t good enough for the contest because we need the deductions right? So I’m going to have to figure out how to score a rack and do it myself once I get it back my apologies on taking so long to add him but he will get up there I promise Mike4christ 2016 Bear Escape Easton FMJ 6mm NAP Doublecross
Gross score is all you need but you do need a breakdown of the measurements. Deductions aren't counted in the contest.
This is about all you need, pretty descriptive write up with pics and all. Your deer will have 17 measurements, 3 G's per side, 4 H's per side(mass), 2 Main beams and an Inside Spread. Your last mass measurement on each side will be 1/2 way beteeen the centerline of the G3 and the tip of main beam. You get 4 mass entries per side regardless of point count. https://forums.bowhunting.com/threads/a-whitetail-scoring-how-to-tutorial.9167/
In stand, hopefully it happens tonight before guns make this game tougher Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Saw the doe with the wire briefly last night, I did not get drawn before she snuck out of the brush and when she came out she was all tweaky. I did a double check of the wind and she was not smelling me. Then there it was the ruckus a spike chasing does around, buggering up any plans to get a shot at the doe. I did have a very nice sized mature doe at broadside but my mind is made up for now if I shoot a doe it will be the wire doe, hunting for a specific deer could be called a challenge I just think it is frustrating.
Well looking at the forecast for this afternoon I am going to hunt. I will not be able to hunt for the next 3 days and based on the crappy forecast it is the perfect time to throw a hail mary. Temps have been dropping from the 40's since midnight going to get down to the lower 30's and NW winds at 10-20 mph by the time I climb up at 3;00. Since I have to go to cabbalas to get more spray and bar soap I am going to buy some estrus and put it out, the higher winds will carry it exactly to the refuge I need a buck to leave, like I said a hail mary. I have hunted enough this year to go thru a big jug of spray all my soap and dryer sheets. The does have 1 job at my place and they have failed to attract and draw a shootable buck, going to have to shake things up.

The score sheet has just been updated and we are in 9th place about 400pts from 1st. But also to consider is a few entry’s have not been included due to missing info so that could put us a little more behind. I still have a week vacation the 1st week of January and by the end of it I will take a cull buck if given a chance. Good luck everyone and have fun.
I should hopefully add around 120 points here soon sorry for the wait fellas Mike4christ 2016 Bear Escape Easton FMJ 6mm NAP Doublecross
That's not much of a deficit considering the number of big bucks taken so far. Three nice bucks along with Mike's puts us over the top.
