Watched him fall. And he must have got back up but I don't think he's too far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Dang that's a tough one. Smart decision though. Good work Shane, the blood looks promising! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Hey guys need some help from my team. So noticed a spot on my lease where a buck might have started a scrape on the ground next day it was down to the dirt!! Put a camera there got awesome pictures that I will show later bought some time release mock scrape two bottles enough to get me to November is now a good time to hang that there? If so I’ll hang it tomorrow HELP ME not huge guys but would take either of them for my first buck ever Mike4christ 2016 Bear Escape Easton FMJ 6mm NAP Doublecross
I can't help on the drips, I never use mock scrapes. On the pics, I'd say don't be in too big a hurry to shoot one of those young'ins. If you have young bucks like that around there then I'd guess that you have some big boys lurking around somewhere as well. If not then any buck you're happy with is a good trophy.
Yes, I put 2 time drips out on opening day (sep 15th) then refill them about October 15th and then 1st November and refill 7th right before the rut. After this I use the doe in heat on the sealable wicks which I place on my way to stand every hunt starting about November 1st and take them down when I leave.
Bring a couple guys. Just follow the drips. Also look for ground sign. I have lost blood many times and refound it by following ground sign such as fresh tracks which show staggering movement(i.e. Deeper or angled deer hoof impressions, sliding impressions) or turned over leaves. Also the technique of going back to last blood, always mark it, and making small concentric circles until you find the next blood. Stay methodical!!!! In the end and as last resort get 5-10 people and grid search in the last known direction of travel. But looking from the blood photo in Live from the Stand, that buck didn't go far!
Mike, if it's a natural scrape that the bucks have started and are working, why would you screw with it? Leave it along and hunt it. You may hold younger bucks with a drip, but a mature buck will move on if he feels the urge. I quite hunting scrapes and rubs years ago. I look for them to help figure out travel corridors. Sitting a scrape waiting on something to come by wastes a lot of time. Find where the does travel and the bucks will come. JMO but the results are on the wall.
Wasn’t sure if it would help bring in a bigger buck Mike4christ 2016 Bear Escape Easton FMJ 6mm NAP Doublecross
