The extended forecast looks so great next week. Below average temps for at least the next week. Highs in the 30s and lows in the low 20s. Going to be one of my best chances to kill a buck all year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Now I’m trying to decide what days I want to take off work. Willing to take 2 days off... what you guys suggest? Rifle season opens 11/9, so anytime before then. 7th and 8th I was thinking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's the plan! Taking friday morning off work to hunt and should be able to get out a bunch this weekend!
Alright here's a map. Red rectangle: Property lines Yellow: Corn Darker Yellow: Beans White: Sorgum of some sort planted because it was too wet Green: Known buck sign. Rubs/scrapes. Pink: Suspected doe bedding A lot of what my plan comes down to is going to hinge on if the bean field on our property and the one right next to our property get harvested before next week. They got the 2 fields to the far west harvested on Sunday, but we got a bunch more rain Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday so I have no idea if they will be able to get into our field or their big field. A lot of does bed in the swamp/woods to our south as well as to the east. My biggest problem and why I am overthinking everything... I haven't seen a buck while on stand yet this year. Does have been piling into the bean fields on the south end. Most of them have been on the neighbors field on the SW corner of our property. That is my preferred spot to set up in as of now. There are no major trails that all of the deer take through there, so I'll basically be setting up in a general area and hope they come through the corner to the beans. I also plan to set up on the E side of the property, toward the property line, north of the corn field. If the beans are harvested before next week I really have no idea what to do as that is going to disrupt their feeding patterns. We have some of the only bean fields in the area that are left standing. I always get pics of bucks on the SE corner of the corn, but I haven't had a cam on it or been back there in a while. Might be a good option. Super long winded post for such a small property... This is what happens when you have an October cold front moving through the last week of October and are slow at work. Any suggestions are welcome.
Well I got a report just now, my buddy out by twin lakes Wisconsin just dropped an 8 on public...........he was following a doe so it's almost that time they'll be searching hard these next couple weeks.......as for Halloween I'll be in the woods no doubt! Probably won't be back in the woods til my rutcation starts next Wednesday!!!
Stay by the does my friend and bust out the antlers. I've done so well on doe bedding with that approach......it might pay off in a big way!
I guess what I’d like opinions on... where do you guys think any possible funnels/pinch points would be on a property like this. Small sections of woods with basically 0 changes in elevation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry for your loss Bullridnfool. My two target bucks are still traveling in a bachelor group together I have them on camera almost every night at 3am. No day light pics yet, going to keep playing the wind and hope I get lucky. Heading to Ohio the 5-9th. Second one I think gets a pass, I think he’s only 2.5
Is that swamps to the north, I'm assuming the red outline is your property line? Hard to tell on the photo when zooming in
Everything around that crick is WET. I haven’t been north of the crick since August cause it’s so wet. I need to bust in there. The pink is a oak island and I know deer bed around the edges in the swamp grass. Red outline is the property. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just some thoughts MN. Green lines are predicted travel routes. Blue circles are probable funnel type areas that should contain two or more converging travel routes....places you may want to check out. I really like that north circle in the northeast corner. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
