Does anyone in here do run and gun hunting with a portable (not climber). I need ideas on how to get my sticks attached to my stand better than I currently do. I'm currently using an XOP (with deluxe backpack straps) with API Outdoors Huntin' Sticks. The sticks are a bit bulkier than Lone Wolf, XOP, or Muddy. I'm just strapping them to my stand with 4 bungee cords. Just looking for ideas.

Shot broadheads today. Hitting good. Also shot my back up release. Trying to tighten down the mental game. Clothes are next.

I sadly am of no assistance. If I am run and gunning it is from the ground in some capacity. However, from packing stands and sticks in for hanging pre-season I prefer ratcheting or at minimum a non ratcheting but cinch strap tightened down holding it all together over bungees. Bungees flex and give too much for me personally.

I can get up and down in my summit viper in a hurry. I love it. I keep talking about sticks and hang ons but never do it. I generally never hunt the same tree twice.

I just use the straps provided on the muddy sticks that go around the tree to attach it to the hang on for carrying in and out. They rest in my foot rest and don't clank around. I'm with most though can't beat my summit climber, lazy boy 20ft high is always my favorite. Calling for 93 degrees opening day in southern Illinois.......makes me sweat just thinking about going hunting!

Just found out the father in law gave some of his sons buddies permission to hunt the property I haven’t been on but twice this year. Not sure what to think now. Not mad cause it’s not my property but I’m gunna have to change a ton of things. Only 45 acres and most of it is crops. The challenge of the hunt adds another layer.

Lets get you on some public land! We can all lend a hand in map scouting it for you. I love the challenge.

I’m not even a mile from a large piece of public and maybe 5-10 miles from a giant piece of public that the “The Hunting Public/Hunting Beast” crew hunted on last year (the hunting public challenge). They took a nice 10 point on the episode. I’ll post screenshots of the areas tomorrow. Maybe. The one area I’m by is large... but the pressure is insane because of the publicity it got on the show.

It's supposed to be mid to high 80's this weekend in Ohio. I'm not real happy about that but you got to start somewhere.

With the heatwave and just not the perfect conditions I'm gonna stay home this weekend, get things done more around the house for future listing and get some wifey points for cashing in later on. LOL

Use the pressure to your advantage. Travel to another public land spot or two....

Here’s the two on my hit list when the season opens up next week. Around my area here in upstate NY they don’t get a whole lot bigger because hardly anyone practices deer management. Good sign they are walking around in daylight as of a couple days ago though, will just be waiting for a cold front and the right wind to get after em
