And that's only if they were the main cause of the problem, would be interesting to see the stats on who was replaced with an alternate over the years actually. I'm sure long gone, or time consuming data gathering would be needed

Was on vacation the last two weeks....I know, I know...and now killed with work but, excited to be here. Will be pulling for a doe kill early, then buck from thereon. Likely have the week off for a week in early Nov or a few full days at least. Checking cams and hanging stands in the next two weeks.

Your only objective is to kill. Kill for you not us, put the meat on the table and in the freezer. End of duty.

240 Cabelas points. What to buy. I have pretty much everything. Looking at the new work sharp adjustable precision knife sharpener. Wondering if it will do good on broadheads?

Not sure how much 240 points is, but you spoke sharp knife. I just bought, but have yet to try, one of the Havalon Piranta replaceable blade knives.

They are similar in popularity to the Rage broadheads, but supported by many more.

I’ve seen those. You’ll like it. But I am talking about a sharpener and a trial for broadheads.

I have the 4 1/2" blade version of that knife for about 8 years now. It is an outstanding knife if you like a replaceable blade. One blade will typically last through the complete processing of a deer from field dressing to butchering. The blades are surgical sharp out of the package. I have accidentally cut myself almost to the bone on one of my fingers. My only complaint is that the bigger blades can be very difficult to get off the handle when your hands are wet from blood. I carry a small multitool and use the pliers to switch blades. I have only seen a blade break once, and that was when my dad caught the blade deep in the hip socket on the back quarter of an elk. The blade bent and snapped. Other than that, great knifes.

Upon the next sunrise I shall request opening weekend off. Works out perfect with opener falling on a Friday.

Does not mean I will be hunting, but if temps seem reasonable I'll have the choice to do so. After that the next 3 weekends will be given to my work if they want to work me OT, as from the 29th of Oct to Dec 1st is my time and very limited time for them.

I average about 7 days of work in Nov. since 2008

Last year this guy and I passed each other in the dark by about 10 minutes as you can tell by the last 2 pics. He is holding on a piece that is hard to get into but has little hunting around. This year I can only imagine what that character looks like. Going to try to get a cell cam up to see if he’s around. Will be forevermore as far as I am concerned.

Truthfully, if my work would allow me to take all 3 weeks of vacation consecutively I could cut that number in half, if only I had 3-4 personal days I could take the entire month off

Shows one other thing as well, a trail is a trail. Deer use it just the same as a human does.

Property I hunt the deer come down the same trails I used that day and I use the same trails they do. I'm a firm believer in the path of least resistance theory. That's not saying you can stomp through their bedding area, just talking travel corridors.

I'm on vacation October 31-Nov 6. Go back to work for a week, then off again Nov 14-20. There is a good chance I'll have lots of time to hunt this season. Because I'm not getting the jab, I have to test once or twice a week. If I pop positive, I'll get two weeks off. I have 38 weeks sick leave.

I have 9 weeks of sick leave. We have a family reunion planned the last week of October in Florida. I am contemplating getting trsted before returning to work just on the chance I will test positive without symptoms. We havea mandatory two week time off after a positive test.
