Since my son is on restriction because of gall bladder surgery and I'm get too old and weak to load deer by myself, I engineered this to help. Haven't got try it out yet but it should work like a charm. 20211116_124322.jpg 20211116_124349.jpg

I have a Jet Sled being delivered tomorrow, think with it, my 4 wheeler ramps and 2 ropes I should be able to pull them into the bed of the truck.

Got to thinking about it and I should have been removing the tailgate the last couple times I was loading deer. Would have made it way easier.

We're 220 off the lead. Going to take some late season deer to carve the way. But if we can get 5 more deer, regardless of size, we'll be right there.

Keep digging, shoot that doe those 50 points add up.

I'm leaving the gun at home this weekend, bow or bust.

The rut is just about to get started here for me. The first week of December is usually pretty good for a chance at a good one. Killed my best buck on Dec 7th a few years ago and have had numerous close encounters over the years around the same time.

    10pm and I was drunk.

I'm still taking the .44 mag, I have no clue where the other 4 will be hunting, I may not have a place to use the bow. Will have both though. Thinking I'll be sitting on the scrape blind. Taking a camo net to use for concealment as the limbs I used to build it were wilted and browning my last hunt in it.

Whoa! Just did a bit of catching up as I've been busy with work and I also hit up some public land this past weekend (to no avail :bigcry:)

Looks like we've got some killers on this team! Glad I can finally be on a team that's in contention, and I'll do my best over these next two weeks to at least get A deer down! This weekend looks good here, and I'm heading to one of our big spots down in Southern Illinois for the extended Thanksgiving weekend where they've got WAAAAAY more deer down there. So I should at least come back home with a doe.

Other than that, our 1st gun season is this Fri-Sun and 2 of my spots get hit pretty hard by the neighbors, so not looking forward to that. But we picked up a new spot this summer that we just started hunting last weekend and it looks promising! I'll keep you guys up to date after this weekend.

You going to be out this weekend, gun or otherwise?

Something has to break with this "rut" thing I've been hearing about. Maybe this is the weekend.

I'll be out wearing my blaze orange while hunting with my bow! Oh, also can't forget to buy a gun tag in order to hunt with a bow during gun season....gotta love Illinois!

Yeah, around here the firearm tags are gone by 2nd lottery. Used to be able to get at least an antlerless OTC for 2nd season, lost out the past two years. Think there was 14 permits left after 2nd lottery fir the county I hunt.

7.5 pounds of jerky going into the dehydrator. Going to be eating good at break time for the next few days. Got some house work to do for the next 2 weekends but I’ll be after my doe soon. We have until the first week of Januar. E9696B04-2444-4ED5-8BA5-BD50AE3DE2E9.jpeg

What dehydrator is that and what's the capacity like? I've been wanting one like that but reading the dimensions they seem small.

I've been using the round stack up models, 3 of them with 8-12 trays on each, constantly rotating them every hour or so.

It’s an Excalibur 9 tray unit. I will cook these for about 5-6hours and rotate once halfway through. Love it. All of the trays fit in our dishwasher when the top rack is removed and cleanup is a snap.
I can take better pics when I get home. I went home for lunch to load it up. First time doing loins for jerky.

Jerky is good but not hot enough. Got to kick it up a notch. Going to add some red pepper flakes next.

I did some product testing this morning. I can confirm my side by side loader works well. I mounted a pulley to the top of dump bed. Loaded this buck like a charm. It was a rifle kill, so no team points added. 20211118_071154.jpg
