Hunting the last 6 huntable days in a row except for today. Passed on two small 8 pointers. Still waiting to run into a brute. Here was the guy I passed on who was chasing a doe. Will be out tomorrow again!
My buddies ended up tagging out early on our trip and we came back early. It would have been nice to get one with my 450, but I feel more like myself with my bow with me. I'm glad to be back in the mountains too. It seems like I struggle when it comes to these gun hunts we do every year. I just think it's a sign telling me that I was meant to bowhunt.
Up and moving even though I got some stomach flu thing going on. Cameras are going crazy last 36 hours with big bucks on their feet during daylight. Let the games begin !!! Dave
I'm running out of time, the more I look at the buck I passed, have a few more pics, I think I made the right call. Still think he was in the mid-upper 120's. Hopefully can still get that number if needed. Meanwhile, @camo75 has a buck down in the LFTS thread. Still hunting but he saw it go down apparently.
Buck down boys.................................................... !!!! Will send pics and short story after i get xfered from phone to computer. One cheezy pic for now. Dave
Which sled is that and how do you like it? I've got a snow sled but no way it would hold up long on dry ground. Have seen some that look good, but not sure how they hold up for the price.
I shot another buck about 30 minutes before sunset. Hit him high, I think I got the off side lung. Found a few drops of blood. Backed out and will look more in the morning. It's will be 33⁰ tonight, not worried about spoilage. It's going to be a sleepless night. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Congrats fellas who have out down bucks! I almost pope and younged my pants this morning but shot right over the bucks back...at 19 yards. I couldn't believe it. I came home and shot and my sight must have got bumped or something because my arrows were hitting about 5 inches high. My father-in-law saw a giant 10, probably around 170 that apparently entered this point about 60 yards from where I was set up but I never saw it. I was also facing into the woods on the edge of a picked cornfield. Anyway, unless my wife encourages me to go out I'm done for the year as I told her these were my last couple days hunting- gotta put more focus on the little ones and my better half. Best of luck for those who are still going at it!
Looks like we are rolling! I put in a lot of hours this last week. First morning I had a beauty of a 10 at 50 yards and the wind did me no favors. He couldn’t figure me out but wasn’t coming any closer. I was really wanting to go after the 11 point I have on cam a few times but the wind would not go my way so I couldn’t get to that property. Hunted there this morning but when I got to my stand the wind was blowing wrong so I ended up on the ground next to a creek against a tree. But the big one never came by. Tonight was my last go for awhile so after having this buck give me a clean shot for the 3rd time in the week, I let him have it. My vacation hunt was supposed to be this coming week but I moved it up a week because of the temps. I think this week is going to be better. Wish I would have left it alone but always fun nevertheless! I will get after a doe later. Good luck guys! I’ll be rooting you on.
I've got a snow sled but no way it would hold up long on dry ground. Have seen some that look good, but not sure how they hold up for the price.[/QUOTE] Jet sled. Well worth it, I found out it floats with a buck in it...................lol. Dragging buck out I crossed a creek 5 feet wide 6 inches deep. When I pulled it across the creek sled got real easy to pull, "I thought wow it floats". I dragged the deer in the sled in the creek for 200 yards in ankle high water...........haha !!! Guess that makes it a deer sled/boat? Wow, we are putting some deer down. Let's keep it going team. Congrats on the deer Camo, you Da man !!! Dave
I've actually looked at those on amazon. Is that the XL and did you buy the runner attachments for it? Was looking at them when I bought my sled but wasn't sure if the optional runners meant it was fairly thin or not. Ended up with a regular snow sled which worked great with snow on the ground.
It is the XL, I had an extra green tree strap so I used it as the pull cord. I have used on maybe 10 deer without any issues. Dave
Jumped the buck at noon. Not a drop of blood in his bed. Just a flesh wound. Taking my grandson on youth hunt this evening. Hopefully he'll show himself. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
