Steady drizzle all evening yesterday. Saw 6 but only deer in range was a spike. I got soaked. Still raining this morning, stayed home. Sun came out around 1pm. This is my last chance to hunt with my son for several weeks. He's getting his gall bladder out tomorrow. Hopefully one or both of can get one this afternoon.

Had daylight pics of the Big 10 yesterday and around 11:30 today. Took off work early and I am in the blind. Rain yesterday and last night. Everything is wet, been overcast all day and the woods are dead quiet. Fingers crossed he makes another appearance this evening. Busted 3 does on the way in so we’ll see…

Sorry, was planned from the time I left the property until I got home. 3 days in a row I cannit post "live" in the thread like I used to. Kills me. Every now and then I get to refresh and read a few new posts but can never actually post but a few times a day.

Just saw the BIGGEST buck of my life! He walked past at 10 yards but it was too thick to shoot. He entered the field 1/4 away at 30 yards with 5 minutes shooting light left. As I was fixing to draw, he saw my son walking out of the woods and spooked. We are both sick.

RB, I’m right there with you in being sick to my stomach. Had the big 10 come in exactly like i had hoped he would at 5:30. He was at 10yds and both times I tried to draw on him he looked right at the blind and I let down and froze. He didn’t seem too spooked, just trotted off a few steps and out of my shooting lane. And just to pour salt in the wound, as I got out of the tree line at dark I’m pretty sure I spooked him again as he wasn’t 30yds away. I’m so pissed at myself for letting down and waiting for the perfect shot. If I could’ve just got drawn, he would’ve been a dead deer. He would probably be my 2nd biggest buck ever, pushing 150”. :bigcry:

I'm pretty sure it was the buck I've been after for three years now. Tonight was the first time I've seen him from the stand. This was him last year. 20200917_200658.jpg

Some great bucks you guys are after! It’s what makes this so much fun.
On Tuesday morning I had a huge 10 at 50 yards and a nice 8 was squaring up to him. The winds were shifting back and forth and the 10 kept his eye on the other buck while trying to figure me out. He was too cautious and turned and hooked around away from me. Man my heart was pumping!!

Keep at it guys, don't let spooking them deter you, they are as stupid right now as they'll ever be.

Good luck this AM Clint! 3 different apps say 3 different things about wind today. Going as scent free as I can get.

Got home from work before the wife and kids today. Decided to work my pole and get some practice from 30 yards out of the saddle. Downhill slope of my yards makes it about 16 feet elevation drop.

Adam, I’m going to be honest, I couldn’t get past the part about you working your pole. Thought maybe you had a story like the UT coaches girlfriend, the monkey and the
    “pole assassin”…

Well-played, working my pole just means more realistic practice. I have no intentions of working any other pole unless gas hits $4.00/gallon again. May have to resort to it then.
