Whiffed a chip shot on a doe with Mt recurve. Happy to have missed than rather than wounded, and that it wasn't a buck! After the shot I realized that instead of letting the bow rest in my palm I squeezed the grip and I did not anchor properly. I was ridiculously nervous for the deer just being a doe, but it was also cool because after the shot she just took a couple of leaps and walked off; she came back after legal shooting light and smelled my arrow and then just walked off.

On another note I had an awesome morning hunt on Saturday where I saw 10 doe and 3 bucks. I passed up a spike and then tried to get a decent 9 to come in but he was on a mission to get to wherever he was going. Then at around 9:30 I spotted a really good buck come out of a cornfield on private into the chunk of public I was hunting, I didn't see his tine length but his main beams went out to his nose. Hoping to get back in there tomorrow evening.

Congrats! Don't forget you have to post those pictures with time & date taken to the score card thread in order for the points to count for the team.

Hey fellas, looks like there's been tons of action so far from everyone that's been hunting! Glad to see we've already got 50pts on the board. Came up empty on the Antelope trip, but we had our chances...I missed twice and my dad missed once. We timed it perfectly and the rut was on like crazy! Wish we could've put a couple down, but it was still tons of fun nonetheless!

    Now, back into whitetail mode!

    As for me...

Broadheads - I'm using the NAP 125 Killzones for the 2nd year. They did great last year on the 3 deer I shot, although just about any broadhead would've done major damage with how well those shots were placed!

Treestands - I think the Lone Wolf Alphas are awesome. Being able to adjust the platform and seat angle is super convenient, and even though they've got somewhat smaller pads, I still like them.

Best Gear Purchase - Hmmmm....this one's a little tougher. But I'd probably say the thing that I've loved having is a bow sling. I never used one before last year, and got the VXR with the SCS System, which is pretty neat as well. But having one or both hands free when walking around and not needing a bow rope is awesome! I know that's kind of a lame thing to pick, but I haven't really had any other major difference makers yet.

    Way to go Dave!

I'm out again tonight. I've been watching two fawns feed since I was getting set up around 4:15. Have a feeling I'm going to see some more in a short while!

I have been using the free version of huntstand for about five years. Never felt the need to upgrade to the paid version.

I have hunt stand but really only use it to see what the wind is predicted to do for the day.

Same. I've done the free trials for On-X and Basemap, and I always go back to Huntstand before the trial ends. My only complaint is that my 10 free parcel information hasn't reset in a couple yrs now.

I was always a HuntStand/ScoutLook user a while ago. Never had the paid version, and basically used it for weather, wind, and barometric pressure. Had OnX for a year and liked it. Been using HuntStand Pro for the past 2 years and like it a lot. Like I said, I only had OnX for one year, and didn't use it a whole lot, so I can't really compare the two. But if you're hunting multiple states like I did this year, I think the value is better in HuntStand since it's only $30 annually for every state. When OnX is the same price for only one state.

I will say that HuntStand has been one of our partners these last 2 years, so take my opinion however you want. But in all honesty, I wouldn't "promote" a product if I didn't trust in it.....

Also, if anyone wants to try the Pro version of HuntStand this year, you can use "BOWHUNTING21" for 20% off...

I have an APP called Elevate Parcel that tells me property owners in certain counties all around me and it’s free. Found it by searching for GIS maps for my county. So you guys might try to find what’s out there for your state/area in GIS parcel maps. I use to use HuntStand for the 10 free parcel info, but after finding this I don’t need it for around me anymore.
