Hey gents, checking in from Oklahoma. Quite a few familiar names here, looks like a really solid team! Fix can go kick rocks…:poke:

I’m gonna go ahead and nominate CLS74 as El Capiton.

I am cool with @cls74 being Captain. The few times I have done it, it was great fun, but we never finished better than second place. We are going to dethrone @Fix and the 12 twitter-pated twinkles.

Not sure what to think of my season this year. Opens Oct. 1st and I normally hunt private land in Morgan County in west central IL.

This year they are having special draw hunts on city and state owned property around the lake here. High density deer population on parcels that have never been legally hunted. I put applications in for each of the 3 seasons, Oct. 1-15, 16-31 and Dec. 15-31. I'm kind of hoping I do not get drawn, mainly as I probably can't/won't kill as many deer as they want individuals to take. On the other hand it would be nice having a 10-15 minute drive early and late season and not having to add pressure on the private land.

Either way I am taking my rutcation Oct 29th through November 14th and that will be my main focus. I'm usually good for something antlered, but I tend to make the mistake of passing does early as it is close to pre rut/rut and that comes back to bite me late season. As far as bucks go, I can pass them early but when it gets slow and I'm bored I get an itchy trigger finger  Generally I'll see at least one good one each year, they just have to follow the right script.

I'll know more in about a week in regards to the Lake hunt, supposed to get notified about 3 weeks prior.

It appears that I am not the only person on this team named "Adam." In order to differentiate between the two of us, I will post my intro first, and you can refer to me as Adamus Prime, or Prime for short, to avoid confusion in the team thread. I am kidding, maybe.

I am from Little Rock, AR and mainly hunt public land. I do have friend with a farm that I that I have helped with his doe management the last couple of years. That does not usually happen until gun season and late archery. I am participating in an urban hunt in addition to the regular hunting season. The urban hunt opens September 1st. Regular archery opens September 25th. Hopefully, I will get a chance over Labor Day weekend to get out for the urban hunt and get a crack at a velvet buck. I have three tags specific to the urban hunt. If I am fortunate enough to fill those, I can get more urban hunt specific tags. I also have my regular six statewide tags that come with the normal license.

    Good hunting everyone!

I'm glad you mentioned Labor Day, forgot to put in for the weekend off. Almost screwed myself out of a 4 day weekend

My season starts 10 September. The 15 day weather outlook here shows going from upper 70's in the morning, down to low mid 60's starting on the 8th.
Sure would be nice hunting the cool mornings and evenings in the mid 70's.

Wow, we've got 2 guys going on "Urban Hunts" this fall. @cls74 - might as well mark those 100pts down right away!

A little about myself....I live and hunt in Northern Illinois, mostly private land but I will be hitting some public in NW Illinois this fall with my wife. I work for Bowhunting.com, and do a lot of behind the scenes stuff, i.e. social media, video editing, writing articles, helping Todd out at his hunting spots when he needs it, etc. Despite what you may think, I don't get a ton of time off during hunting season as that is our "busy" time, pumping out videos and whatnot. But with most of my hunting spots being local, I'm able to get out every weekend, and usually take a half day or two during November. I also film anytime I hunt. Mostly self-filming, but my wife and I will be trying to team up quite a bit this fall.

I'll also be going out to SD for a DIY Public antelope hunt with my dad in mid-September. It's only my 2nd time going out west to hunt, and his 1st time. So I might be MIA for a bit in September. Other than that, I'll be hunting Illinois as much as I can this fall. Last year I got married in August, our 1 year was yesterday, so I had to take a lot of Vacation time for the wedding and honeymoon. But I've got some time saved up this year and will hopefully get my hands on a nice buck this fall!

Interesting, will have to see him live to make final decision on shooter or not. Still going through pictures to see what else is moving.

This is John. I live in NW Arkansas and hunt a couple small acreages (<40ac) in my home state. This season I will also bowhunt in NE Oklahoma. My son-in-law has 300 ac West of Colcord and leases another 1000 ac near Little Kansas, Oklahoma. Both properties are about a 30 minute drive from home.
