So, who is "in season" currently? I used my Colorado deer tag on a doe in an effort to secure a bear lure carcass. Hopefully I can fill that tag this weekend. I am off to South Dakota on September 29th and will be hunting for a whitetail buck on the 30th and 1st...and then again on the 9th and 10th. I'll be dancing back and forth between Nebraska and South Dakota until I travel to Tennessee for a Thanksgiving deer hunt.

    What are your plans?

Indiana season opens Oct 1st. I believe that's a Sunday. Will hunt morning, church then head out after for evening....weather permitting. Don't wanna burn out a good spot if weather is crappy.

For the rest of season, will stay in Indiana, all private land, maybe some public if I'm not seeing much.

Our season just started last Saturday, I usually wait a couple weeks so some of the leaves fall. If not I can’t see that far at my property. After that I’ll have until the end of the year, however I hope to fill my tags as soon as possible.

I have a good friend who lives in Bedford. He comes out to Colorado to hunt with me all the time. If you have any desire to travel west, I can get the two of you hooked up! He's a great bowhunter...like a brother. Again guys, I am all about sharing my back yard. If you have a desire...let's talk. I will do what I can to help.

    I married an IU grad.

My life goal is to make it west for a mulie or elk hunt with a bow. I had an OTC hunt planned in 2020 in the Cripple Creek area just west of Colorado Springs but that got foiled.

My BIL's wife just moved here from Kansas and I'm hoping to make it out there to hunt her family's land for turkey or a nice Kansas whitetail as well.

I've already killed two Doe in NJ, but didnt take the required pics cause I didnt think I was doing the contest this year. I'll shoot another one. My NH season is also open though I havent been able to get there yet. VT opens October 1. I may not be here though cause I may be back in NJ, I'll see how my schedule looks.

Also heads up, the last time I was on a team for this contest, 2020/2021 I think, most of our guys shot NICE bucks within the first week of opening season. I think Bullridnfool shot a beauty of a 200" deer that year too, I on the other hand didn't add a single point to the roster the entire season. So let that be a forewarning or something to look forward to. Maybe I'm good luck for others, bad luck for myself :lmao2:

Indy, keep the faith! LOL...be a horrible loser and learn from your past experiences to improve your future! I have learned over the years that a negative attitude keeps me from looking in the next draw or going over that next ridge ...which is where you'll find success. Hunting is like a rodeo; you have to be there to get the 8 second ride! You have got this!

John, is NJ's bag limit high? That's a region of the US I have yet to hunt- the farthest I've made it that direction is Pa and NY-but really nowhere in the northeastern states. Someday though...I hate being in a "one and done" region. The love for bowhunting keeps me traveling outside Colorado.

Frustrating day. Bought a few packs of different fixed broadheads today to test out, I wasn't completely happy so I decided to stick with the Wasp Havalons. Attempted to get my new bow broadhead tuned and no matter what I do with the rest, I'm getting a gap between field points and the broadheads. Every once in a while I think I've got it set right, then boom right back to 2-3in spacing in my FPs/broadheads. Going to take a break, drink a beer and start over.

Getting closer. 1" difference in groups. Broadhead is still to the right. Maybe I'm splitting hairs and just move my sight over a 1/16 and call it good for season. 20230921_161642.jpg

While adjusting my QAD to the right, I must have bumped the launcher arms up slightly and they started contacting the fletchings causing my erratic arrow flight

    WTG on the doe!

Where about in SD? I hunted in the Northeast part of the state last year. It was interesting, seen some nice bucks.

No trips planned this year for me.
