Well, Teamies, here we go. I’ve made it to New Orleans. I’ll be on stand hunting the Louisiana rut for the next five days. Again I am loaded for bear and filled with high hopes. I see we have dropped from the top three. I also see a 100 inch deer puts us in first place. All toes and fingers crossed…
Refresh your screen.. we just posted another buck, my friend! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Did I say I didn’t like you, Tony? Man, talking about really putting the pressure on… Well teamies, I’ll be after a 300 inch deer tomorrow. More than just fingers and toes crossed…I may hafta sacrifice one of my kids to the volcano god.
Good luck Will and have fun! You have been grinding hard for months. I hope you get a nice one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well the good and the bad… On my third adventure to harvest a deer in the “Big Easy” state of Louisiana, and on my 12th day of seeing zero deer prior, it all finally came together. At 6:50 am ( I was struggling to see my pin although I was within the legal light/sunrise limit). I spied what I thought was a doe moving through heavy cover. I picked a shooting window ahead of her. When she hit it, I let my arrow fly. She was still moving and I saw my arrow hit a tad back…but still in the chest area. What A Relief! Finally, the thought of putting my hands on a Cajun deer was coming to fruition. Well… The doe turned into a busted up spike buck when I found it. Its antlers were broken off just above the burrs on both sides…argh! It wasn’t the 300 inch deer I had prayed for, nor was it even close to the size deer I passed up this season. But it is the first buck I arrowed. 50 points, boys…Sorry. I pray Mr. Murphy leaves me alone next season…he sure had a strangle hold on this last one.
Give up…I couldn’t. Being out there and hunting is the very blood that keeps me alive. I look at the map I have of the USA with all the out lined states colored either red for dead, grey for go back, or green for must go there for a deer, and my mind starts to imagine meeting great adventure and super new friends.I would not have it any other way. I will see if I can upload the map to share.
Had a successful hunt in NJ this AM. Gonna try making Bacon and Ham, as well as other things with this Doe. Will be Buck hunting these next three afternoons. Good luck if you are still out there.
It was a fun season with you guys, to bad a few of us had a not so great year otherwise we had a really good chance of winning this thing!
