Good job, Sliverflicker, that puts us back in third place! I have a four-day hunt in Louisiana starting Jan. 11th. I am going there with high hopes! Nebraska was a "buck" bust...I was happy coming away with a doe. I'm spending time between Xmas and New Year's hunting Mtn Lion in the mountains of Colorado.
If Mike updates his score it will be even closer for the time being. Anyone still hunting besides Will and Silverflicker? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The good and the bad of living in Colorado...our archery season is only 30 days long, but we do have 10 different big game animals to hunt. I have spent a ton of money traveling outside the state to do what I love doing (hunting), and to be honest, I would not change that for all the rice in China! Normally for me, my experience of arrowing a buck comes a whole hell of a lot easier. But let's face it, hunting does come with a tad bit of luck (being in the right place at the right time). Here we are nearly at year's end, and I am beginning to think I used all my luck getting a caiman in Argentina, A fallow deer in Hungary, and a mountain lion. I say nearly because I am going to Louisiana with high expectations. I will be on stand none stop for four days in the middle of a southern high rut period. If he comes, I will kill him! Sliver, we can do this! Stay after it, buddy! I am rooting for you!
Who is still hunting? It appears S.McArthur has room on the score board, Sliver has a buck to get, and I also have room for a buck. Arrowflinger is out due to surgery, and Mike needs to update his score. Am I missing anyone/thing?
I think that about catches everyone. We still have a few potential points out there. I just hope everyone is able to cherish this season. I'll be honest, I felt it flew by for me and now I'm kinda down that it's over already. Fortunately I had a successful season, but this might actually be the first season that I was emotionally attached to it. First year as a new dad so hunting chances were fewer, I did my best to make the best of every property I had to hunt, harvested my first ever buck with archery equipment on my Mother's birthday. Every part of this season was emotional for me and now I'm ready to do it again.
You definitely had a lot of firsts, I try to enjoy every single year, even though some suck more than others. Time seems to go by faster every year the older we get… so enjoy every moment of it you can!
I’m busy searching for mtn. lions in the high country, but a lack of new snow is hampering the hunt. We’ve cut tracks but they have not been fresh enough to keep the hounds interested. More to the story… pending. Happy new year, everyone!
Some of the fun things we are finding while searching for lions. We are finding old tracks in the patches of snow here and there, but nothing the dogs can follow Praying snow comes tomorrow (50% chance says the weatherman). I have never seen a piebald mule deer…so cool
That truly is God's country. Absolutely amazing. Really appreciate you sharing your experiences Will!
