First sit in S. Dakota (until the cold brought me in) and I let a chip shot and 50 points walk past at ten yards. The spike needed a few more years… it’s on me if we do not place. I will make it up to you guys when you’re in Colorado hunting elk. I promise! I ‘m bundling up and will be back on stand in a few hours. Maybe the next 11 deer I see will include something with 128 inches…
Back home in Colorado. My last sit of the year in South Dakota and I walked away with another round of tag soup. I saw 25 deer today...three bucks. A doe and a fawn walked under me but nothing else was closer than 100 yards. Had I sat the stand I sat last night, I would have killed an eight pointer. Mr. Murphy is kicking my ass this year. Back to Nebraska next weekend.
Mr Murphy has kicked my ass this season too. I have been in the backyard blind every day this past week, have seen some does and fawns but no bucks. Tomorrow and Tuesday morning is all I have left and it’s not looking good, but you never know. Just been one of those years
Only does and fawns the last two days. That is it for my season, sorry I couldn’t help out with a buck, Just has been that kind of year. Tomorrow morning I go in for my neck surgery. It has been fun talking amongst all of us and hopefully someone else can contribute to the scorecard! I will hopefully give an update on how surgery went and will still be following along after this gets done. Good luck out there!
Good luck! I hope you have a speedy recovery and get the desired results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Keep grinding Will! I appreciate your efforts. Late season will test your resolve. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Surgery went well, recovery is going good so far. Lots of stiffness / soreness. Bulging disc removed and a new fake one in place, I really hope it helps. Really couldn’t do much of anything without the nerves getting irritated
12/16/2023, I am dressed and ready to head out. First shooting light is 7:30 am I am loaded for bear. God help a deer that gets within bow range.
I had a buck walk past at 20 yards, but it never gave me a legit shot and I was struggling to see my pins. I needed five more minutes of first light. I could make out his antlers but not well enough to see how big he actually was. A 146 pound doe came by 30 minutes later. You’ll never guess why I know her exact weight. At least I’m not going to starve…through May.
Shot a Doe today, well yesterday now. Took pictures with my phone, will post soon as I figure out how!
