I was out last night and saw 9. If you didn’t follow live from the stand thread, I had a shot at a lone doe. I couldn’t tell at first if it was a doe or fawn because she was on the smaller side. When I was really thinking of shooting her, I heard some fawns bleating and they came running to her and just couldn’t do it…. One of these days I will connect
I leave in the morning for S/W Michigan for about 10 days. Ruttnutt picked us up another 80 acres of river bottom land to hunt, will be scouting it out tomorrow. Good luck guys!
I’m here still alive lol, haven’t got to hunt much but late season is my solid game! Ladies first so gotta get my girls out while it’s still mild temps and they wanna go! Family time before daddy time Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Looks like LC dropped a nice buck so team 5 will be taking over the top slot. There’s going to be a lot of back and fourth we just need to keep it close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was out again tonight and saw 6 does and fawns, they just aren’t giving me the shot I want… it will happen sometime and just need to stay patient.
help me team! Where should I hang a second stand at this field Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Murphy Kicked the nads again-twice! I arrived in S. Dakota at 1:30 am Saturday morning. I relinquished my number one stand to a young hunter who helped me trim shooting lanes two weeks ago. I did so because that was the only tree stand he had ever been to on this property(we usually hunt the nearby State land). We didn't have time to hang a stand prior to our arrival, and Saturday morning was fast upon us. I figured I'd just sitting another stand that first morning.... just to see what was happening elsewhere. Well, as luck would have it, this young hunter arrowed a beautiful 12-point buck at first light. It is an exceptional deer for the Black Hills! See picture. I sat another stand Saturday evening. I figured the area around my number one stand was disturbed too much from pulling the deer out earlier. At 6:10pm a solid 8-pointer started my direction. I drew my bow when the buck stepped behind an oak tree at 25 yards. But then, the bastard locked up behind the tree... Finally, and after what seemed like an eternity (my arms were becoming fatigued), the buck continued his walk towards me. In the waning light I was unable to see the smallest of branches between the deer and me. In my minds eye, the deer had completely step clear of the oak tree and its looming branches. I shot only to watch my arrow deflect high and to the right of the deer. AAARG! I so had him! I guess that's way it's called hunting and not getting! I will be spending the next several weeks hunting elk (helping rifle hunters) in the mountains of Colorado. I will be in Wisconsin with bow in hand over Thanksgiving. Keep after it everyone! Again, we have got this!
Wow that’s quite the weekend. That’s good karma for you. Congrats to that young man that’s a great buck! You’re creating lots of opportunities for yourself so it’s just a matter of time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Speaking of doe down. I put one down tonight. I’m done but I will be following along with great interest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
