Best of luck getting to him before the orange invasion on Friday. What an awesome buck. I would love to lay eyes on him during the daylight. He obviously didn't get that big by being stupid. Hopefully, the gun season pressure will have him hunkered down, and if you can't get him before this weekend, he will be on the move after the smoke clears.

He's one of the most impressive non-typicals I have ever seen around our neck of the woods! What a monster! :jaw:

I got busted by a Gorgeous 11pointer... My uncle and his buddy named him Big Hoss... They have been chasing him for 2 yrs... Anyways I was up in a poplar tree about 25ft off the ground I was sitting at the bottom of this ridge overlooking a TON of deer trails and rubs, scrapes etc... I could see both ridges from my position and the orchard down the hill behind me...

Of course he had to come up at an odd angle behind me only about 25-30yds away where there was a medium sized patch of laurel and thornbush type shrubbery tangled together... I heard a limb crack and I turned my head and all i could see was his rack for a minute or 2 but in hunter time thats a lifetime... I stood up slowly and started to turn myself and my rifle around to get him in the crosshairs... Well about the time i got my rifle around one of the metal rings on my harness made contact with the treestand and he looked right at me and I froze... We looked at each other for probably 2-3 minutes and then he blew at me turned around and BOLTED...

I had 1 window of opportunity to put a good shot on him and I blew it :( ... He played a good game... Guess i will try for him next year... Fortunately the place I was hunting is only accessible to 5 people "Legally" so I may get a shot at him next year :)

wow what a picture of that deer, that'd be an awesome wall hanger. I'm still chasing after this 140" class deer thats in the area. Hopefully he will stick his neck out sooner than later.

I'll be getting back out starting on Wednesday. I'm hoping to put another 50 on the board for Team #16, and fill my doe tag. I'm limiting myself to older mature does only, so we'll see how that plan works out.

Yeah I've had a few chances on does with yearlings and don't have the heart to pull the trigger. Should have a mature lone doe walk by sooner or later.

Planning to get the kids out hunting this weekend but I'll just be their guide. Hope to get out a few times in December with the bow yet too.

Well I am done for the season, I am sorry I couldn't contribute any points, been a rough year, we lost a lot more deer then the DNR will admit and targeting one buck is never easy.. I leave to trap Kansas in a few days then off to New Mexico for 2 months to live in the mountains in a tent and trap cats and hunt a mountain lion or two, wish you all the best of luck with the rest of the season!!!!!

Safe Travels, and best of luck with the trapping. I am still after it trying to get another 50 points on the board. I've been seeing deer, just not a good mature doe. I won't shoot yearlings.......even though I have had several inside of 20 yards this year. I hunted Sunday morning, and had another small yearling doe at 15 yards, but I just watched her graze on by.

Sunday morning was a beautiful morning to be in the woods. Mid 30's temp, and just a breath of wind. Perfect bowhunting weather!

First day of gun came and went today. A lot of deer hit the dirt today. It was a pretty good day for me. I saw 27 deer and a couple shooters but the closest shot on a shooter was 600 yards. My neighbor shot a heck of an 8 pt at 1:30.

    Hey Guys,
I'm still here, kinda. Looks like it's been a tough season for the team this year. I've been out of commission since October 1 when I went under the knife (and saw) and had both my knees replaced. Missed the rut but I'm about ready to get out in the field for some late season hunts.
Hope you all have great holiday season!

    Just bumping up a reminder

Things at work just didn't allow for any late season hunts. Was a trying season, but successful in the end.
