I'll toss myself out there for captain, but if someone else wants it that's fine by me as well. I did it last year, not a whole lot to it.

Looks like we've got the western half of IL covered. 41 more sunrises to go!

Good team name ideas so far, keep 'em coming.
I am also good with anyone for Captain. This is my first year in the contest, and I think a veteran of the contest would be a good team captain. Once everyone checks in, we can get things squared away.

Hey, Archarrow is here! Just wanted to check in and I'll tell you a little about myself later since I'm short on time. I saw Powerhawks team name suggestion and his Pass Thru Crew made me think of another one:
    Just Passing Thru
Have no idea if these have been used before.
-more later, glad to be on this team.

So we only have 2 more people to check in and we are complete.. This contest is what you make of it, the more people participate the more fun it is, I have been on several teams that you will hear from people a few times and that's it.... I hope everyone will stay in touch during the season... Lets have fun and kill some deer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm surprised I haven't had people tell me to shut up in past contests lol. Sometimes I think I post too much.

If they have it again, I'm sure they will, I also participate in the live from the stand thread but generally give a recap if anything exciting happens. I am excited for this season to start, I will put 50 on the board at first opportunity. I felt like old mother Hubbard when I went to the freezer!

Im in the process of figuring out which hunt club I want to join in my area. We have some prime real estate but the prices seem to be a bit steep ...

I'm in the contest to have a good time, and participate fully, so I'm sure you will get tired of my updates as the season progresses! If you do, tell me to shut the hell up.........I'm used to it...........my lovely wife tells me that when I get going on hunting stories! ;-)

Just to get started............I pulled a cam card a couple of days ago, and had these twins on it. Yeah............I am SO ready for the season to get started!

no such thing as posting to much unless you are scatter thought. collect thoughts then post. I enjoy a good read.
Put my camera up 2 weeks ago. tested it before putting it out. went to check card and no power no pics. Totally PISSED!
got a new camera coming in tomorrow. hope to get it together.

Do you guys have any gadgets you use for bowhunting? Calls, rattles etc that make you more successful?

I'm not going to say it makes me successful, but I use a grunt more than anything. I've brought younger bucks in from 50yds, and can't confirm my 2011 kill was a result of my grunting but think it played a role in it.

Use the can on occasion but never really had much luck other than putting them on alert. And I rattle every now and then with a rattle bag, but I don't feel it's as loud as it should be. I've got a couple sheds I'm going to try this year, they're a bit mismatched but I think they still sound better than the bag.

Never messed with decoys or anything. I might get one of those fold up cardboard ones to stick on the other side of a ditch in the acorns this year.

I use calls-can bleat and grunt to some success, call in a lot of does.. I have used horns to rattle but only in a blind and have brought in several bucks, only one good one and I have used decoys in rut except for fawn decoy early on does..
The thing I use most and to the greatest success is mock scrapes, works really good Oct 20th- Nov 20th, have had really good success with them..
I got all 14 plots done and have cameras out, I wont check them till sept 1st, give them time to get some pics..

Never tried a mock scrape before, might give it a whirl this year as well. Do you have a preferred brand to use?

Think I'll do a bit of research on it.

There is a small deer farm by me and I get my pee from them, I don't like the store brands, watered down, preserved up to last.. I have the best luck with all natural, nothing but Pee.......
It really works good and have taken several large bucks doing it.... If I use a bottle brand it is always James Valley Scents Gel, works really good also.....Hopefully I can show you the results this fall...
