Suppose I could have introduced myself when I started the thread! My name is Aaron and I am 35 years old and hunt in WI. I hunt 190 acres of private land comprised of 120 and 70 acres on the same general tract of land. I've been bowhunting for 9 years. Have had a fair amount of success largely because I hunt some pretty good land. I should be good for 50 points minimum. Hopefully can shoot a buck this year as well. Last year I set my goal of 130"ish or bigger because I have harvested 4 bucks in the 110"-120" class and wanted to shoot a bigger one. Had several encounters with bucks right in the 115"-120" range, but stayed true to my goals and ate my buck tag. I'm running behind on season prep this year due to the amount of rain we've had. Haven't gotten my plots in yet and need to mow trails as well. Hoping to get that done in the next two weeks. Just got cams out last week. Have a couple decent bucks already. My 10 year old son can also hunt for the first time this year so looking forward to that. Not planning on bowhunting with him at all as I don't own a crossbow and he can't pull back enough weight on his bow, but he'll do a youth hunt and probably sit with me for gun season. As for captain, I guess being first gets you nominated! I would gladly pass it off to someone else if someone else wants it. Seems like a great group so far! Let's get some deer on the ground!
I second AaronB as team captain. Once everyone checks in we can see if anyone else wants to throw their name in the hat and then we can vote on team captain. Sound good to everyone?
I vote AaronB for captain as well. I'm letting a few cameras soak currently so nothing to speak of for this year yet, but am looking to find this guy back on my grandpas land. I know he made it through last season so I will be sure to post current pics if I get any.
This guy has played cat and mouse with me for a couple years. Pretty sure he made it but haven't gotten him on camera yet this year. Unfortunately, the one time he was in bow range, I was on the ground without a bow in my hand as I was tagged out and my 15 year old nephew shaking beside me on the way to the stand. Some stills from the video I took after he retreated to about 40 yards before turning and bounding into the woods.
Looks like you guys have some real monsters on camera. Deer of that caliber are super rare where I'm from. I'll be lucky to see anything above 120". Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I got really lucky with this lease, this is the first time I've had any giant bucks on camera. I do have some nice PA public land deer too but this is anything but normal for me. If you can't tell I am a little bit excited for the season Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
