I don't get to that part of the state too much, but I imagine it has to be decent hunting terrain and habitat over that way.

I'm letting the WI property sit until October even though it opens before that. I want to put the least amount of pressure as possible. IL season doesn't open until October 1st.

Its gonna kill me but I'm going to refrain from hunting opening day this year. The property I hunt is small and and trying to wait for optimal conditions so I don't burn it too soon. I have a cell cam there too so that helps to determine when is optimal. Worst case I wait till Oct/Nov

Here's one of the shooters I hope returns! Any guess of age? WI deer from 2016.

Best guess is 4.5. His back isn't swayed but he has a bit of a belly, neck meets his brisket which gives the appearance of short front legs. It's possible he's 3.5 in the photo but I'm guessing 4.5.

Any guesses on score? I'm really bad at guessing.

I would say he is 3.5 in that picture and roughly scores around the mid 130s. He will be a dandy if he made it through!

    I'm going to say it's a 4.5 year old buck. 21" beams. 9" G2s, 9" G3s, 7" G4s, 3" brows, average mass measurement of 4" so 16 per side. 17" wide. 21+9+9+7+3+16 = 65"+65"+17" spread (best guess from side view) = 147" Really nice buck.

On the board! Congrats and nice work. I wouldn't be too picky on the size of the doe if it meant I had a buck tag as a result. Awesome!

Doing a bit of low light/no range finder practice in the back yard. I'd say we're looking pretty good! IMG_1178.JPG
