As expected this week is going to drag on forever with the opener being on Saturday in NJ looks like they are calling for good weather, fingers crossed I will have to shoot a doe first. In NJ you have to earn a buck. Knowing my luck the split brow buck will probably be right under my stand Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sounds like you got off pretty lucky. Any damage to the limbs? What forced the switch from your vertical in the first place? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
No damage to the limbs or anything. I got very lucky. I had labrum repair surgery back in April and can not pull and hold a compound bow yet. I'm going to work on strengthening my shoulder but it takes time. Time I don't have before the season starts.
Oh I'll have pics, just knowing my luck I'll have the big bucks under me before a doe and won't be able to shoot them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
For those of you with access to the Google drive file, do me a favor and look at the videos I have labeled Junior2014 and Junior 2017. Let me know if you think this is the same deer in your opinion. Hopefully there are enough files there to compare, but I do have more. If I can get decent screen shots from the vids, maybe I'll pose the same question on the main forum. Let me know what you think!
Just looked at the videos you posted and I wanna say it is the same deer. The deer from 2014 is around 2-2.5 and the deer in 2017 is atleast 5-5.5. If it's not the same deer I would say it's a close relative based off the positions of the G3 on its right side. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I think the same thing. My brother and I are having a disagreement because he hasn't added much in 3 years with the exception of mass and possibly slightly wider. His body however is a different story, but normally our deer have made bigger jumps antler growth wise when they hit 5 years old. Every deer is different genetically and not every deer grows into a 175" buck. We just thought that one had a ton of potential and I think he's just having a hard time accepting he didn't blow up like we maybe thought he would.
Interestingly, we didn't get any pictures of him in 2015 or 2016. He did relocate to the area where my camera is now at the end of 2014 after being on my brothers 70 acres most of the early season all the way through mid October.
In non hunting related news... I went on a zip line that was over 300 feet in the air, over a mile long, and went over 55mph. So crazy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I went ziplining near Cancun in August on a trip to Mexico and it was awesome. The longest run we had was half a kilometer or so, but it was a great experience hovering over a jungle canopy. We had 10 runs total and ended swimming for an hour in a freshwater cenote after where you had a hanging zipline that you could drop into the water. I was doing flips and stuff by the end. It was pretty sweet! I'd recommend it to anyone. Cost was $72 per person for 2 hours of fun with a meal so it was reasonable I thought.
It was just under $100 per person. It included a wildlife sanctuary tour, 6 zip lines and a free lunch buffet. I was skeptical that it was going to be worth it... 100% worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not bad. Looked amazing and lunch too! They should have given you a burrito and said if you finish it before the end of the zip line, it's free.
Made it out to the Wisconsin property yesterday. Set up and brushed in a ground blind. Also moved a stand to a new spot overlooking a natural pinch point made by a downed tree. Also put 2 cameras up. Hopefully this will be a successful bow year there. Had 4 shooters on camera last year with one shot during gun season.
