Pretty exciting development on my card pull this morning. In 2014, a very nice what I believed to be 2 year old buck with all sorts of potential was all over our camera. He was a mainframe 9 with double inside G3s on both sides and other stickers so I think he was 12 points total as a 2.5. He vanished and we never had him on camera again. Thought somebody shot him or he relocated. Well, pretty sure I got him on camera this year again. He's not as big as I envisioned him being in my dreams as a 5.5 year old, but still a great deer. My stills are not great because it was morning and there was dew on camera, but the videos are better. So I normally shoot videos because I feel like they tell more of the story. Is anyone interested in putting together a Google Drive folder of our teams trail cam pics/videos? Anyone that wanted to participate could upload and we can keep tabs as a team. I could create a folder and share it with anyone that wanted to. Just need an email address to share it with. Just a thought. I will try and upload a pic or still from the videos.
Kinda lucked out the rest of company is headed to Texas to help out with relief I stayed back for my course that doesn't start til the 18 th ... more time to hunt ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok. Folder is created. Message me your preferred email if you want to view and/or add to the folder. Folder is titled Team 16 Bowhunt or Cry Trail Cams.
Lastoneout thats tough brother. I hunted Cherry Point and Bogue Field and then the most competition was from civilians. I did that one year then said the heck with it and just took leave.
I'll kill a doe or 5 on base, but have about zero hope in a shooter buck on Lejeune, although they are here in small numbers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dude delete that and send that private message. These forums are public. you are gonna get so much spam.
Ok, added everybody that I got emails from so far. Go ahead and delete the posts with personal emails if you wish.
Houstian here too, home is fine, but a close one, we have a new saying now, So we will will "Bring the Rain" this season. Off to KY today will be in the stand Sat morning, I have a half day of work, 11 hour drive, trailer pickup, ahead of me. One long day, so I may report on breaks. Brother in law has taken 2.5 days to get there this morning. But he did get some corn. More to come Sent from my XT1585 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Good luck and safe travels! As an FYI I added all of my trail cam pics I have saved to the Google drive/folder. I don't name every picture so they were just kind of dumped in there.
Aaron, Dude you have some nice prospects brother. Excited for ya. All, Mother nature is a fickle B!@#$%. I went from 300 pics a night full of 3 and 4 years olds to 3 pictures a day. Acorns are falling so its gonna be another one of those years. That usually means good times in Virginia so thats a plus.
Yeah, pretty stoked for the season. Nothing huge, but some nice deer. I've really only run one cam for the last three weeks and a couple are from my brothers property next door. Getting another couple cameras out soon when I finish my last plot. There should be a couple bigger ones than what I have on camera so far. The rut will bring a lot more buck movement, but the ones I'm getting on cam now are more regular so definitely within their home ranges. The "block" that I hunt on like 2,000 acres of prime deer habitat. Food, water, bedding all readily available. It seems like the genetics and mineral content of the soils are good as well. Fair amount of hunting pressure, but most neighbors do some form of QDM. My property is not highly wooded so that makes things challenging, but it is also a great multi species property for ducks and turkeys as well so we don't exclusively deer hunt on it.
I'm at work and bored so I thought I would write a poem about hunting. The season starts very soon The whitetail buck I will pursue I'll get up early before the sun Hoping to kill that giant one With bow in hand I take to the tree Believing with dawn deer I will see The thought of a Booner round every bend Keeps me going until the end My heart beats fast, what's that sound? It's just a squirrel running around Woke from may nap, did I miss anything? Better check the forecast, it's sprinkling... Gail force winds, rain and sleet The stand sways greatly under my feet The weather passes but still no deer I have no doubt they will soon be here Hours pass and darkness sets in I guess today the whitetail win I'll try again tomorrow this game we play After all, it's only opening day!
