My son was a bit under the weather and he had a soccer scrimmage at 12, so let him sleep in went a new stand, didnt see anything till 930 when I had two year 7 point come by. On another note the scrimmage was good, James scored two goals in on shift playing center and another shot. Played two other shifts in the back field,( which he hates ) played really well albeit consertive as he always does in that position. He is natural midfielder and plays his best when he has room. Going out this afternoon to a ground blind with him
Disappointing cam pull at this blind, 2000 pictures of wind and squirrels. Anyway we are going to give it a shot.
From what I can see, I'd put them both at 4. Sent from my SM-G965U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
After cracking some ducks the past couple weeks, I had my first morning sit Sunday morning. Pretty quiet overall. Saw four doe and two bucks. The bucks were sparring pretty good for a half hour in multiple locations within 60-100 yards of me. I wouldn’t have shot either as I estimated them to be 2 and 3 years old, but it was cool to shoot some phone videos and watch the show anyway. Work this week 5 out of 7 days and then off for a week. Should be hitting it quite a bit more as it’s nearly go time on our property. Every buck I’ve shot so far has been between Oct 17&31st with all but one being shot between the 25th and 31st.
Was out Friday and Sunday afternoon this weekend. Saw three, all within 20 yds. One doe Friday at last light that slipped into the corn before I could get on her. Sunday had a little buck fawn at 15 and a big bodied little antlered 6 pt at 15 yds. Couldn't shoot him, has to be 8 pt or better in that spot. Keep trying! packing up to head to cabin tonight and almost forgot to buy my tags. put some new blades on the magnus stinger buzzcuts. 6 arrows all ready for the season, sharp blades, new lighted knocks. Weather at the property is supposed to be into the 70s today and a high of 40 tomorrow, so ill be going in with the cold front.
Do you use the MO Hunting app to buy your tags? Good Luck!! Sent from my SM-G965U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
no, but i did end up downloading it. ill bring the paper tags but will use the app to see how smooth it is. the plan is after putting the 4 kids to bed Ill load up and drive the 107 miles to the cabin, get a fire going and settle in, up early with about a 1/4 walk to stand where ive been getting a lot of buck pictures. Right now its 83 degrees there and the forecast for tomorrow is a high of 42. This being first hunt of year, and because I still have a lot of pto im not shooting until a giant comes
Personally, I only use the app. I've had great luck with it! Good Luck!! Sent from my SM-G965U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
just got to the cabin and got a fire going. need to check sunrise and wind forecast and plan my morning
this was right as i was walking in at that location it rained last night and its cold this morning with acorns still dropping all over. is it weird that i missed the smell of the woods in the mornings
Can’t catch a break. After finally getting a “normal” precipitation summer and our land finally sort of drying out from the past 3 seasons, we got socked with a soaker of 5-6” of rain the last couple days. Portions of food plots under water, river over it’s banks, flooding a good portion of our land. Going to need waders to get to stands and of course it happens right as the mature bucks were starting to show in daylight and me having a week off. Here’s to hoping it recedes quickly, but to say I’m a little disgusted would be an understatement. Praying for patience and understanding.
