    Hi guys,
I posted a short story and a photo of the elk I took last Thursday on the Elk Hunting contest page. Here's the link - I think.
    http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=14715&page=11
It is located near the bottom of that page.
Hope everyone is hitting the fields and seeing some action. I'll probably get out in a couple of weeks when it gets a bit cooler.

That is awesome! To kill a nice bull on your first ever hunt doesn't happen to too many people I can promise you that. Great job!

I am starting my 2010 season this afternoon. Hopefully I can contribute some points for the "main vanes".

Deerslayer7: Welcome to the team, I'm not far from you (Toledo area).

Tomorrow morning I will finally be back in stand! Hopefully I can get us something, so we can get some points up, either way it will feel good to be back out in stand.

I plan to be out there this Saturday. The low will be in the 40's tonight with a NNE wind that I have a perfect stand for. Hopefully something big makes a mistake. I'm still hesitant to take a doe but I might if the opportunity presents itself.

I went out Saturday morning and saw 2 small bucks. Acorns were falling and it was very chilly and windy. Other than that it was a pretty uneventful weekend. Has anybody been seeing anything this early in the season?

Went out this weekend and had plenty of deer sighting just not in range. I let a 2yr old walk at 15 yrds and missed a ok buck yesterday. Its really looking like an early rut in IL this year bucks are walking scrapes already!!!

Bucks will work scrapes from the time they peel velvet. I'm not a moon guy but people who are predict a late rut. I think November 7th-14th is the right time every year IMO. Heck, last year I didn't even witness a rut. I saw a lot of seeking but very little chasing.

I'm thinking about heading out this evening. I have a new job on the horizon that the hours might be real wacky so I need to get it done while I have more free time. Hopefully, one of us gets us on the board quickly.

I would have us on the board, but I missed a doe Friday. My face mask got between my eye and the peep sight and I panicked. Other than that I haven't had a ton of activity, but hopefully it will change tonight as I will be headed back out. Good luck everyone!

I've been hitting it hard lately on places that should produce but have been shutout 4 times. Couple of my spots if just decided to sit and see if anything has happened. Other spots didn't produce due to the combine getting within 10 yards of my position! I haven't hunted my honey holes yet but in the next couple of weeks that should change.

Temps are going to be in the upper 80's here. Don't think I'll be out much this weekend. Building a blind in between my two brassica's plot and getting some entrance/exit routes mowed.
