I am typically good for a couple archery does and a buck. I know that the teams that usually win this contest, usually fill all off their doe slots. Not being a strictly archery hunter, I will be picking up a rifle and a muzzleloader during those respective seasons. We are allowed 2 bucks a season (one archery/muzz and one during regular season, both takes can be filled in the late muzzleloader season).

If you were just a bit closer I could square and fletch them for you.

I'm going to got through the whole "building" process on three of them, been watching some ranch fairy video's on arrow building and how to properly tune an arrow. I'll save a few to bring out with me so we can have a mid day activity if needed (plus have someone else quality control my work).

Beautiful mule deer! Congrats to your cousin.

Anybody seeing scrapes starting to open up?

    Sounds good.

I’ve never watched any of the Ranch Fairy stuff. Just tell me you’re not trying to line up your broadhead blades with your fletches.

Wasn't that once thought to be an important part of "tuning"?

I've seen vanfossen's latest post, he would make a great addition to the team if Buckwatch doesn't report!!!!

This deer has essentially no brow tines, pretty nice rack though

Today will be my 5th evening sit in my ground blind. I've only seen a spike, no other deer. Still, each day I go into the woods with a renewed confidence in my location, despite the lack of action. I know my target buck comes through this area, since I have 6 videos of him. It's only a matter of time until he comes through again. I'll be happy to just see him, getting a shot would be awesome though. Here's a pic of my ground blind.

Rain (and work) next 2 days in NC.

Sat, I'm signed up with my oldest daughter for a mixed doubles pickleball tournament and Sat pm birthday dinners for my youngest daughter & wife, with the rest of the kids (+spouses /sig others) and grand daughter.

Hoping maybe Sunday evening I'll have a chance to get in the woods...

That's way too deep in the weeds for me, I just want to go through the bare shaft etc. process...or I just want to add one more task to my never ending "to-do" list. Nothing serious at this point, just learning something new.

Going to have to hunt opening weekend (pending the hurricane) with my Helim, give it one last opening day before I make it #2 in the rotation. If it's light rain, I may hunt; if trees are sideways, I'll probably sit that out. I don't have enough time to properly setup, tune, and practice with the new one.
