I miss being out in the midwest already haha I won't be getting up in a tree for some time with the in-laws headed in for a week+ for thanksgiving. Might try to get after some ducks in the meantime
I'm torn. Freezer is low on cervid. Rifle season opens tomorrow, near where I live that means public land will be crowded. I've seen a handful of does and 1 little forky, skirting my property that I could bow hunt...potentially a new stand would give me an ambush opportunity. A neighbor about 1/4 mile away has seen some decent bucks...Or find a little corner on public with a rifle. 2 hrs to the mountains where I was last week. Muzzleloader opens up there tomorrow. Given the terrain, hiking in a stand and sticks kinda sucks. But I saw some decent bucks...
Snuck another hunt in, thought I was done based on the refrigerator calendar. Got the morning today then it’ll be hit or miss when I can get back out. Nothing but a little 6 so far this morning.
Here are my hunt statistics so far this season. I've hunted 41 times since Opening Day, totaling roughly 234 hours, mostly 4 hour sits with about 6 dark to darks mixed in. It's the most time I've ever spent in the woods in a single season, by far! I've only seen 44 deer, which for all of those hours on stand, aren't very many. I'll continue being persistent though. My target 8pt is still in the area!
Been stupid busy again...but I did catch up on some neglected house work and closed my pool for the season. Stopped at wife's friends house the other day, they have some land and small horse fields, said a monster buck keeps coming into their field and breaking the horse fence, so I volunteered to handle the pest control. Told me to sit in the horse barn and just wait, hopefully tomorrow or Friday I'll have some time to sit there. Might have lucked into an easy hunt, we will see over the next few days.
Gave the horse place a hunt, saw a deer, not sure what it was. Wind was blowing like 30, going to try again tomorrow.
Fellas, woke up with migraine, been trying to get it under control all day but it’s not going away. Going to stay at the house and cover my eyes. Not sure when I’ll get out again.
Sorry to hear that! Migraines are no joke. I had them as a child, and the only relief was sleeping. And getting to sleep was not easy. Our family doctor told my parents that they would subside as I got older, which thankfully was the case. I hope you get some relief very soon!
