I'm hoping to be gifted some extra PTO.
Working in a start up and my projects are going really well. The president is a..... you do good you get rewarded guy
Hoping he asks and I say give me a week of PTO so I can get some extra hunting in.

My freezer is completely empty so 2 deer is what I need. Does on our property are normally pretty easy, we have lots of good bedding, food, cover and they are not pressured. 50 points
We then have several bucks in the 115-120 range - nothing huge BUT every year rut we see a couple just huge deer come through.

this was, my goodness 3 years ago now.... the last couple years have been pretty crap
Death in family during season, surgery, etc.

After a couple days off, I will be back out tonight. We have been pretty blessed with cool weather and a few Northerly winds lately, which I always appreciate. The coming week looks better.

Tomorrow AM I will be hunting the duck opener as my brother was drawn for a refuge hunt. But Saturday pm, Sunday am and Sunday pm my butt will be in a tree.

image.jpg I’m up again tonight, different plot so we will see what happens. Cold front coming this weekend so sun-tues looks great so far.

Heading out in the morning, soccer is canceled, so I have the am to hunt. I’m off Monday for the first big temp drop as well. Going to hunt until 9ish, find a spot to setup for the pm if I have time or leave for Sunday am.
Decided to really go through dialing in my arrows to my sight with field points and a sacrificial broadhead, glad I did, way off after 40 yards, even though I’m not slinging past 40, the left/right is dialed in to 60; confidence has gone up significantly.
    Old tape
Gray on right is field point
    Gray on tape is broadhead.

No deer this evening, which has been the norm, but I had a Cooper's hawk land on the top branch of my natural ground blind. Literally three feet from me! I guess I'm blending in okay.

Had 6 bucks this morning, not close enough to shoot, only one of them I would have considered. A few doe but same thing, they hung out about 70yards and walked away.
Found a good creek crossing spot I’m going to sit on in the morning.
    Hopefully there’s blood tomorrow morning.

I’m heading out this evening. Haven’t hunted for a week and movement should start picking up and cold front moving in. Going to use wind to push in and scout for buck bedding, taking the gloves off now

Checked my cams this afternoon, and the smaller of the two 8pts I'm watching hit his scrape for the second time in 5 days. Seems he's going to spend some time in my area. I need daytime movement though. Come on rut!!

I really got lucky having a scrape open up 20 feet in front of my cam. Doesn't happen like that too often. I couldn't have scripted it better.

In the tree, found a pinch point with a lot of cover and browse between 3 bedding areas. I have rubs all around me and direction the go to is a bedding area that I’m on the cusp. Good creek access but very tight windows to shoot threw

Heading back out, only saw a turkey and fawn this morning. Going deep into the woods this evening to try and catch them long before they try to go feed tonight, I got a feeling if not me hopefully someone else.

Midway thru October , all bachelor groups split up, most crops picked, time to get aggressive and push in on bedding

All set up, if my calculations are correct, they should be coming from the right of me, wind in my face. There’s some active scrapes and a few beds that way. Saw 3 deer walking in, but I think I got in here well enough.

Saw a decent 8 harassing a doe yesterday morning, two sparring, hopefully the temp drop coming this evening really kicks them into gear.

I'll go sit a hardwood ridge tomorrow.Hopefully still some acorns or better a cruising buck...
