If they would stop breaking off! :-) Speaking of browtines, here is one on camera on Saturday. He will likely get a pass this year. And looks like the velvet is starting to shed… Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
After around 50 years of bowhunting I have lot's of good stories. Some kinda funny. Buck with snow in the picture I shot in terrible conditions. Snow, sleet and wind. He chased some does by and gave me an easy shot. I was thinking he was just a 3 1/2 year old buck. Neighbor stopped by a few days later and asked if my buck had a split ear. He did, neighbor had pictures of him for a few years. He was few years older than I thought. Buck with the forks I watched in my field most of the summer, shot him opening day of archery. Had more fun watching him during the summer than hunting him. Most of my life I've hunted with a recurve bow, really liked hunting with it and had great luck using it. Other buck in truck, neighbor stopped by after shining deer. He was all excited about this buck he saw in one of my fields, saying it had a huge body and would dress out over 250 lbs and the buck had a bad limp. I believed him since he was a butcher. Hunted there a few times and finally had this buck come by limping bad and got him. He dressed out at 200 lbs. I forgot that he liked to exaggerate.
That's another character trait that I love, big brows. Unfortunately around here is fairly rare. I think my largest brow buck might be around 6". Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Would everyone agree that we should post our two pics and pic of the scoresheet in our team thread first just to make sure its correct and looks right? Or atleast on the groupchat?
Just trying to help LC and catch anything before it gets posted to the score thread. We all make mistakes, i forgot a measurement 2 contest ago Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Definitely! I would even try for more then 1 if possible. Going to scout my way in, look for sign, as usual. If I find some buck sign, I will setup on that. I'm not sure what direction I'm going yet. My new property I picked up I haven't set foot on it in 6 months. No idea what's there. But I can only park my truck in one spot and tomorrow's wind is blowing directly into the property. So I may go to some public that I know well. Always a couple bucks in there early. I will figure it out by tomorrow. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I went out right at dark tonight to shoot a half dozen arrows. I like to practice in low light, because alot of my shots at deer are near last light. Well my last shot blew thru my target and launched out into a bean field. No way to find it. Hate losing a arrow like that. Hopefully after they cut the beans I can go out and find it. Hopefully it was just with a field point!? Hate losing a arrow like that and when its with a broadhead on it too. I shot this evening and I was just off tonight. It wasn’t too bad but wasn’t on tonight. My shoulder started bothering me tonight too. That hump at the end of the draw cycle, it would make my shoulder hurt, not like a sharp pain but almost like a ache. It was a first for me. I don’t know why. Maybe i’m getting old haha do turn 30 in 2 weeks Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Yes just a field point. I was shooting at a old bag target and must have hit a soft spot. The shoulder thing is no fun. I've been dealing with shoulder pain for close to 2 years now. I had it healed and didn't hurt when shooting this year. Then I was riding my bike and it popped again. Definitely can't shot as much as I like. It's not painful right now, but just uncomfortable. Something that helped is just turning the lbs down on the bow. Take it easy and maybe don't shoot for a few days and see if it clears up? Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Yeah I’m gonna take a couple days off from shooting. I have been shooting almost every day and feeling good and shooting good. But today just felt off and shoulder started hurting. I only shoot 60lbs cause i had scoliosis, had surgery when i was 14 to try to slow the curve of my spine and that didn’t work so i had spinal fusion when i was 18. Never have shot over 65lbs cause of that. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Wow that's alot of hardware! Dang man, sounds like you know how to deal with this kind of stuff. Hopefully a little rest is all that's needed. I got lower back problems, luckily no hardware yet. Surgeon told me a couple months ago I will know when it's time. I've got 3 degenerative disc in my back, bone spurs and a perforation. Nothing like you though. Back problems are no fun. I might have just messed up my whole season! Today I accepted a new job that starts 5 days before season and my usual rutcation might be cut really short. Ugh!
Congrats on the new job! But dang hopefully you still will be able to get out and hunt some this season! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Yeah usually i have back pain sometimes with shooting a lot but never had shoulder pain. Thats why I always try to find the smoothest/easiest drawing bow. Might just have to turn it down to 55lb. Yeah dealt with back issues my whole life but always can be worse. Just giving it a couple days and hopefully it doesn’t hurt as bad or not at all. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
