I’ve been a captain in the past but I get so busy now I can’t do it. I can help handle some captain responsibilities though. I’m usually fairly active here in the season as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm the same, fairly active year around. I've been captain before also, but definitely would love to see someone else do it. Sounds like a few have been one before and could easily help out for who ever does it. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I have zero cameras out this year. I'm trying to rely on past info and I put in over 200 miles of winter scouting this past year. So with all that Intel, I'm going to try and kill a buck off that. I have a life goal to shoot a clean 150" class 8 pt. Last year I ran into a buck twice that was very close to that. I think he was roughly 140". How ever I never found any sign of him after December. Always a chance he was shot. I never found his sheds. I'm hoping he's still around and much bigger. Otherwise I shoot just about any buck 3 1/2 or older. Sometimes I get tripped up by 2 1/2. I do have 2 bow tags for a buck and plan to use them. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I don't mind being captain. I was captain last year and the year before. This year I have a goal for 140s or bigger but we will see. I want to say the two shooters I have on camera are around the 140s mark but hard to tell in velvet.
You got some great target bucks with history. I wouldn't hold back on them, even if under 140. The area I live and hunt has potential for big bucks, but they are rare. I'm lucky if I see 1 buck at 140 a year. Very rare to find 1 over that. I would say the average mature buck is about 125-130 for me. I'm happy to take one that size any year. I would say I see less then 5 that size per year. It's tough to target the big boys, sometimes I just like to shoot deer! Haha Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Justin can have my vote as well. Have been on a team with a couple here already but my name is Joel. I hunt private property in Central WI and am part of the Green Bay urban hunt program. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Less then 24 hours in and looks like 3 more guys to check in! Nice! Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Yeah I usually only see about 120s around me lol. Last year I did have 160s 170s daylighting and opening weekend had him at 20 yards and just needed him to take one more step and he caught my wind and he was gone. Neighbor shot him opening day of shotgun. Scored gross 168-170 he said. Biggest buck I had a chance at lol. 130s steps out, he will probably get a arrow. Since we have decided captain of this ship, lol any team name suggestions?
I like those too. lol Just waiting for 3 members to check in. @cbw @rednas5 @dcaldwell Going to check cameras Friday. Might go to our 3D target course this weekend if I get a chance. Almost completely out of deer meat, so probably the first good shot opportunity I get when season starts on a doe I'm gonna take it.
I'm on a deer meat mission for the first week. Down 2-3 packs of meat. Don't like being this low. I had a bad year last year. Only got 2 does, and one the coyotes got to it first, so lost about 1/2 the meat. I think I missed 4 or 5 deer last year, just not my year. Hence the reason I got a new bow and help build my confidence back up. I shot at 1 buck last year and hit him in the brisket. That was early season, then it was all down hill from there. I’m still sitting fairly good on meat I got #120 back from my buck last year so I’ll be fairly picky to start with. We don’t open til October 1st here as well. Hopefully the weather will start to cool down in a month to catch a cold front like I did last year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah its suppose to warm back up in the 90s again next week here. I'm ready for fall/winter. We lost most of our meat a month ago cause we were on vacation in Florida and a bad storm hit our area, had now power for 5 days. Got home and had to get rid of almost everything besides a few deer burger packages that were still frozen at the bottom of the freezer. So, I'll be filling all my doe tags this season or trying to atleast.
Just got done shooting my bow, man this evening felt like a nice fall day in the tree stand. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
