Yesterday afternoon my youngest son and brother came up hunting. With three of us hunting thought someone would shoot something. Not good conditions warm and strong northwest wind. They didn't see anything. I had a doe and fawn coming to me from the southeast she got to about 30 yards came to a sudden stop, looked in my direction and turned around and went back in other direction. She definitely smelled me. I'll be hunting most mornings and evenings from now on. Days around Halloween have been good for me. Either see or get a nice buck around those days. Good luck to the team hunting!
Checked cameras yesterday and bucks are definitely moving more. Scrapes everywhere. Have a good feeling my fiance with get a shot at a buck this week or next week when the temps drop.
Good luck this evening! I have been doing shoulder exercises hoping to regain strength in my shoulder. It doesn't hurt to move it anymore but still don't have the strength in it to lift or pull things. I talked to my brother that is in the medical field and he asked a couple doctors and they said to give it 2-4 weeks and do exercises. If I still have issues then I need to go see my doctor. We will see. Anyone else ever had shoulder issues like this? Or advice?
I have shoulder issues for over 2 years. It starts to heal then it will pop again. I just don't let it heal because the work I do. I kind of just live with it. Never had it checked. Last year was a rough one because it hurt when I pulled my bow. I could alway pull it, but with pain. Lowered my poundage this year and help alot. Try doing dead hangs, just hang from pullup bar, no movement. Do it as long as you can. And try for 3-5 minutes each day. Even if broken up in separate hangs. Seems to help my shoulder and back. I had a shoulder issue 3 yrs ago. Couldn’t draw my 60lb bow. Worked with Christian Williams of Archery Strong https://www.archerystrong.com/training-1. Best $200 could have spent. In a few weeks he had me shooting again. Then he worked with me to increase my strength and improve my form. I’ve been shooting 73lbs for the past 3 yrs with no recurrence. I think I remember you saying that. I'm going to look into it. Its strange, I can pick up heavy stuff but if I try to hold my bow and draw its like I have no strength in my shoulder and it hurts if I try to pull it back. Thats the only time it really hurts.
We are out of the top 3. I’m be out almost all weekend in between the rain. Bucks have been out during daylight the passed few days Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
We are not keeping up! I'm going to start more morning hunts to try and combat this warm weather. Might be my only chance til it cools down. I got a good feeling about this weekend for the team! Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Need to shoot does! Lol I think almost everyone on Team 5 have shot does except one member. That helps out a lot! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Agree. Shooting does is what wins these contests. (I usually get a couple later in the season) Just listened to Bobby Kendall on the Exodus Podcast talk about the “Magic X” with the weather. We have that this Friday and Saturday. I am switching my vacation day from Monday to Friday. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
That is almost exactly my symptoms. For me, I think the cause was over-use from practicing the bow to long and hard. (That or wrestling with my high school and college boys—I should know better. :-) ) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Weathers hurting my hunting. Rain, warm temps and east winds. Been getting out every chance I get. Rained out again this morning. We had 4-5 inches of rain the last few days, water everywhere. Brother came here hunting yesterday, he made a poor hit on a buck. Jest a few drops of bright red blood, we got lucky and found him couple hundred yards away. Hit him high in the back in middle of body, arrow was lodged in back hind quarter. It killed him fast but no blood trail. Biggest problem was getting him out of where he was. Black ash swamp that had water everywhere. We were both slipping and falling down and getting wet dragging him out in the dark. We'll both remember that deer lol. Had this doe standing in front of my blind all yesterday evening., but she is a Montana decoy and can't move. Sure like it better than my old hard body one for moving it around.
Forgot to take my camera along. It was a small six point. My trail camera was there and he said the buck went to mock scrape there in front of camera then he went and stood right in front of camera when my brother shot him. So pretty sure I'll have live pictures of him. Should of switched sd cards last night while I was there.
Checked a couple cameras today. Don't think this buck will even score 100 points, but I'd be tempted to shoot him to see how much he weighs.
Maybe he is down grading for being so old? lol He is a big bodied deer thats for sure tho. If you do shoot him, would like to know what he weighs too lol.
