I'm trying to stay out of my good spots until mid/late October but the new property, that one buck keeps showing up in the morning 30 minutes or so after first light. Might try to slip in there on opening day cause I think I know where he is bedded and I got a good wind for it. Not real sure if he is a shooter yet cause he won't give me a good pic of him but he is the one with the crab claws at the end. He looks short tined but decent wide. If I do see him on opening day I will decide then.
I would guess everyone will have open season by this weekend? Any one else getting out this weekend? I lost this whole weekend to heavy rains. Going to try and get a hunt or 2 in this week and will have a little time on the weekend. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Weather really stopped hunting for me also. Rain stopped yesterday afternoon, went out to a stand in a white oak at the back corner of a corn field. With a strong se wind nothing seemed to be moving, Saw one lone deer way out of range. Rained again today. Went from bone dry here to puddles everywhere. Waiting for a west wind, to hunt this food plot and get some venison. Crazy how many deer are using it. Part of the plot is clover back half is some kind of a white turnip or sugar beets. Deer are really chowing down on them. 1st time I've ever planted something they like over acorns.
Thanks Captain! Feels good to get the first one down and make a good shot and recovery. Doesn't always happen like that. It was a perfect hunt tonight. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Got the doe quarter and in the fridge. Gonna let her age for a week. Got all my gear cleaned up and back together. Now I'm itching all ready to get back out there. Not sure what's wrong with me! Haha Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Same. Our season opens this Sunday. Our biggest buck showed back up on camera last night—an hour after dark. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just got done shooting. Getting everything prepped and ready for Sunday morning! Usually don’t hunt mornings this early and hot but when you have a shooter daylighting a hour after daylight, you gotta go for it. Next weekend the temps are suppose to drop really good, deer should be moving good then. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Do it! Got to hunt when the deer are there. Good luck, I'm sure anticipation is high. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Oh yeah! Probably Saturday afternoon and might be able to get 1 or 2 sits in on Sunday. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Good luck to you guys hunting! Weathers really hurting my hunting here. Raining again this morning. Seems we've had rain parts of most days this last week. Easterly winds for about a week also. Made it out yesterday afternoon, had easy chance at a doe, but where it was would have been a hard muddy chore getting her out. Have lots easier places to shoot does once the wind changes. Glad Wis. has a long bow season. lol
Won’t make it out the opener tomorrow but looking ahead to next weekend we’ve got a cold front coming in I’m excited to hunt. Temps down around 38 with north winds Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m in the stand this afternoon with my daughter on a youth hunt. First time our schedules synced this season. Super hot, south wind. Under some burr oak trees. We’re in a spot that can also double be an observation spot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have seen one doe so far this morning. Came by at 10 yards. She got a pass cause I have a buck that keeps daylighting still here in the morning every couple days. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
