This absolutely sucks not being able to be out in a tree stand hunting right now. But I have been doing some scouting for predator hunting and trapping for the landlord because he has cattle and horses out here. I found 1 den and several spots where they've been going under the fence. Yesterday the landlord came over and right before he left he told me there was a huge dead coon laying on the side of the road about 400-500 yards down from our house, so once he left I road my bike to the end of our drive way and walked down the road to get it. It was honestly the biggest raccoon I've ever seen, I could hardly ride my bike with it lol. So I took it back to our house and case skinned it like my taxidermist told me to do for a coon skin hat. It took me awhile but i got it all finished! Now I have it sitting in the freezer for me to flesh it and make the hat.
So I pulled my trail cam today, I had over 1,000 pictures and it only sat about 40 days. In typical deer hunting fashion, the action skyrocketed once I couldn't be there to hunt lol! There is mostly good news to report, but one big negative... I've seen a couple new bucks that survived rifle. I didn't get a picture of my 8 pointer, and as easy as he was to pattern I have my doubts he made it. I have two new bucks that look older, but their racks aren't as nice. They probably came down of the public land to hide down here. I have a couple new coyote pics and a ton of red fox pics. I have never caught them on camera before, so that was really neat! The biggest negative was the note I received from a trespasser, he told me to "Take this camera down and get off our land! I will be checking on you, especially next year." I'm not really sure what to make of it. I am getting sick of the mentality most hunters around here have. People barge onto property that doesn't belong to them and then try to drive everyone else out. I know the landowner and she has never given anyone else permission to hunt here. My tree stand is within her borders, but near the edge. I hope I can resolve this peacefully, but I will definitely be double checking my tree stand for tampering. He was wearing a jacket with the name of a business that our company deals with, and I have a fairly decent pic of his face. I didn't recognize him but he could be a relative of the owner. I wont post a pic of him but I will show the note he left me. What would you guys do if this happened to you?
I just created my oklahoma game and fish account and it has it to where I can buy my licenses and start hunting. should i wait untill feb 7th which is my 60 days or should i start hunting? what would you guys do?
Try the diplomatic way first, then hang him! Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

Merry Christmas guys! I've really enjoyed this season with you! Sent from my SM-N900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'm supposed to wait 60 days but nobody could tell how long I've been here. yesterday we had 2 does and a button buck 25 yard from our back door and today I saw what looked like 4 big does out in a field right by my great grandmas property that i can hunt on!
Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is looking. I understand the temptation. Good luck with your decision on this. Merry Christmas. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Merry Christmas guys!! Hope you all enjoy some time with your loved ones and remember the reason for the season. I’ve really enjoyed being a member of this team. It’s made this season a lot of fun!
Hope all you guys had a very merry Christmas! Went out to setup a trail cam I got for Christmas out right before dark and on my way back I spooked 4 does I saw the othere day! I also found a couple rubs while I was out there! The trail I put my trail cam on has been used a lot by the looks of it. Now it's just a waiting game. I might not be able to check my trail cam card next Sunday because I'll be staying up all Friday night and I'm not sure if I'll even be able to make it through church lol.
It’s a sad day at my house. Yesterday afternoon we had to say goodbye to our little pug Foxy. She had developed a tumor in her mouth that was progressing rapidly and we had to make the difficult decision to put her down. She was almost 11 yrs old so she lived a good long life but it’s always hard to lose a furry little family member. My wife got her right before we got married so she was like our first child. The hardest part is seeing our boys struggle with the grief and trying to help them understand. Not trying to bring the mood down, just venting a little I guess. Hope you guys all had a good Christmas!
Sorry to hear that. It's always hard to say goodbye to a family pet. we had to say goodbye to our 16 year old cat right before we moved, my parents got her right around when they got married so it was pretty hard.
I totally understand!!! I grieve more over pets than most people. We tried to head this off before it gets to us. My oldest lab will be 14 in June. So, in April we got us another Black Lab pup. He is AWESOME!!! Going to be our shed dog. Ducks are for the birds, no pun intended. Hang in there Okie!! Sorry for your loss. I think the boys need a Black Lab pup!!
