Nothing. No new sign. I went down every trail from the spot of last blood. Not a spec of anything to be found. I will go. Ack and hunt it tomorrow. There are quite a few nice bucks in that area. Maybe I will get lucky and at least see him.

I know that finding no sign after looking for a full day is very frustrating and discouraging, at this point I too hope he makes a full recovery. Good luck tomorrow!

Congrats on the doe Gri22ly. Sorry to hear about your buck Dutchd, maybe you will see him again this year. I have still been hard at it. Finally starting to see some rutting action. Had several bucks come through my plot Sunday afternoon chasing does but unfortunately not until after shooting light. I believe the buck I have been chasing was in the group but it was just to hard to tell and to dark to make a ethical shot. 10 minutes earlier and who knows, that's just hunting. I am off all next week so maybe I can still put a buck on the board.

    Congrats gri22 on the doe!

Sorry to hear you lost that buck Dutchd. I've never lost a deer but I know it'll eventually happen.

As of 1:25am our house in Wisconsin is officially sold! I've killed 3 squirrels off of the 5 acres I've been hunting! I shot 1 at 150 yards with #2 shot 3 1/2 inch shell with my 12 gauge lol, but I never did recover him.

Okay Hawkeye, dont you think that shot is a bit extreme? :) I am surprised you even hit it at that range.

I know it sounds crazy, you know it may have been more like 110-115. It was across a draw. I think it was mostly luck!

Caleb, That sounds a little like an old fisherman’s story to me. “That fish was 40lbs if he was 10lbs I tell ya!” What’s next? Shooting a mouse running at 50yds with a sling shot?!
    :poke: Lol

It's gonna be a rough late season, I attached the forecast and its gonna be pretty brutal opening day. (the day after Christmas) it's gonna go from being 40s all week to well bellow freezing for the next 8-10 days according to the long range forecast. The hunting may be great but I'm a little apprehensive about opening day! I hate cold windy days.

Headed out with my 8 yr old to try and get it done this evening. It’s COLD... 32 degrees with a 10-15mph north wind. I brought my little propane heater to have in the blind with us so we should be warm enough. :o
