I'm going to try a different, to me, tactic tomorrow. Going to get to the stand around 8, instead of kicking everything out of the field on my way to the stand, in the dark. Sent from my SM-G930V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Happy thanksgiving to you Dutch! And to the rest of y'all! Won't be in the stand until December 2nd(unless I go and sit with someone who hasn't gotten a buck yet) I got 2 doe tags to fill. Saving atleast one for my bow. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Happy Thanksgiving to the deadly dozen crew! the land owner of the 3 acres I was hunting is letting me hunt that property till I move because he's hunted for years and he'd rather see me get one than him! I'll be hitting the woods again with my bow after a couple more hunts with my .308! Good luck guys!
Are you sure it was really a buck? Or just one of your wild sheep Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I have not, at this rate it will be a Christmas surprise... I'm heading out of town on Sunday for what is hopefully the last business trip this season, I will try to do it before then. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Honestly I'm waiting for someone to give me my special fishermans measuring tape back. Each inch is about 1/4" short Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
So... I got out a little late tonight. as I was turning on to the road that the private land is on I see a but head sticking out of a truck and it looked to be the wide 8 I had on camera but I wasn't sure if it was or not. I got setup in the stand and an hour later the neihbors dog runs out into the field and I was like I'm never going to see a deer today. so It's starting to get darker and my mom tells me to go wild with my calls so i did, i played some christmas music and some AC/DC and that crazy stuff. It's getting closer to the close of season and I see a 6pt buck walk out into the corn field about 70 yards away, while I was watching that buck I had another buck sneak around to my left, then behind me then I end up catching him out of the corner of my eye to my right, I get my binos to see which buck it is because I couln't see the antlers very well, it looked to be either one of my 8pts or "2 FACE", so I shouder my gun click the safty off, get my finger on the trigger and get my crosshairs settled on him but he decided to walk behind a tree as I was about to pull the trigger. turns out that big buck was in that little chunk of woods and decided to wait till dark to come out to investigate. so that's the story of my night.
If legal shooting light is 6:30 what time do you guys think I should get out there? I won't be able to hunt tomorrow night which kind of sucks but I have family commitments.
What could be so important tomorrow? I try to be in the stand about 45 mins to an hour before dawn. So your gonna have to figure out what that means. Edit: I just reread this and it sounds harsh. Didn't mean that at all. I meant you have to figure out what that means for you(drive time, getting gear ready, walk in time etc) Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well... Somehow I made it out to the stand tonight! And i was able to bring my gun and bow! Hopefully one of those bucks will come out! With that 6pt it's 3 strikes you're out! Good luck to the guys that are able to make it out tonight!
