Checked cams yesterday and did some scouting. The big 8 is only showing up about every 3 or 4 days and is still nocturnal. The Rut is still a week or two out here it seems. I found a couple rubs but nothing big and I'm still getting pics of does with their fawns still in tow.
Yes sir. But I brought the team average down a little bit! LOL Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Congratulations Jim, he sure is nice. Waiting for the story. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
One of our leases and a stand that hadn't been sat in 2 years. He came in and walked away from me. I stopped him with a loud grunt at about 60 yards and then hit him with one short grunt that got him moving in my direction. Shot him at 7 yards and he tipped over in about 30. Waiting to take pics and drag him out until my buddy is done sitting for the day. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
In the past I have shot numerous "small" deer. I say this based on the bucks in our area. You need to get a few kills under your belt so you are more comfortable when "he" walks out. I know I needed the practice!!
The full moon is a little bit of a problem right now. You might try going in the middle of the day if you have a good wind.
Lol, I'm glad somebody did Jim! Now I won't feel as bad if/when I kill a buck. I'll be Happy as a pig in slop if I get a chance to "bring our team average down" with a buck like that!
