The number one is to be there which you are. The wind on your favor and patience. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Careful with snort wheezing, it isn't too hard to sound like a deer that just got bumped by a predator. Which is not what you want, honestly I have not had much luck with blind calling. I think your best bet is to slip in there silently and just wait for one of those bucks to chase a doe your way. If you see a buck, that might be a good time to grunt at him. Be persistent and always watch the conditions,
How many points? make sure you get two pics with your bow in the pic. If the blood trail looks marginal then back out.
To piggy back on what Axtell said, be careful doing too much. The only call you need IMO is a grunt tube and the only time I've had success with it is when you can see the buck and you are trying to convince him to come in close enough for a shot. I've blind called many times and never had it work. I'm sure rattling works if the catch a buck in the right place, in the right mood, in the right time of year, but I think a lot of the blind calling, especially rattling & snort-wheezing can often times scare deer off that may be near by. This time of year, just keep putting your time in, play the wind and watch your scent and before long you'll be putting a tag on your first archery deer... p.s. Don't worry about the size of the antlers man. At your age and with a bow I wouldn't have hesitated to shoot that 6pt. What matters most is what is going to make you happy!
