I really need to shoot this buck before rifle season because I think the land owner will be gun hunting and I don't want him to kill it.
My one jacket is water proof, its just a gander mountain jacket, nothing special. I used to just use a couple layers for my legs and then throw on parachute pants or something that was semi rain resistant, but just got some waterproof bottoms. They are really noisy, but its better than walking around with soaking wet thermal underwear, jeans and a camo pants constricting you. I am addicted to hunting in the rain, although it has left me with two very tough blood trails. I found my one deer after about 3 hours of searching, and blind luck. she was only 150 yards away, and once she entered some thick pines it was a blood bath, but the rain had almost washed all of the first 100 yards of blood away as it was in an open field. Textbook double lung.
Best rain gear I have. Fits in my pack and weighs about a pound and it’s quiet. Just the jacket. Most of my pants are wool or goretex. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Wow, that buck had already grown his antlers and shed the velvet by may 5th, incredible! Is this on the public property or your own? I like your trail camera name btw
I have'nt had a chance to change the date lol. These are on the private land that I got the picture of that big buck on! Thanks! I named It that when I was like 10, i think. btw all those pics were from last night.
On trail cam It looks like I have 2 does, a button buck, a 6pt, a 9pt from a couple of days ago and one ugly yote. I also setup another trail cam on a trail that is beaten down to the dirt! I have both setup for video but my cuddeback will take a photo first and then a video.
I would shoot any legal deer,I still haven't gotten my first buck with a bow yet. Don't get caught up with points and whatnot, get yourself a buck!
This is the time of year that anything can happen at any time. If your wind is right I would stay put. You know there are deer in the vicinity. All it takes is a little chasing and it’s game on. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
They should just about be in full blown chasing mode, atleast they are down here in PA. They will be up and about all day. Edit: sorry for repeating you Dutch, didnt see you posted.
I was out almost all day and threw everything I have at them. I rattled, grunted, bleated and snort wheezed. How can I use the rut to my advantage?
