Our youngest has hockey Saturday afternoon. I might make it out Sunday evening if all works out weather wise. Good luck, and I hope you noks get here in time!
I finally have a weekend off. Should get two days in the trees. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Put em down Dutch! Question: is the deer in your profile pic one you have already shot, or one you are trying to shoot?
That is Houdini. He disappears a couple weeks before the season starts never to be seen again until the following spring. He has made me crazy for a few years. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
He knows how to read a calander huh? That must be what all those professional hunters mean when they say they are after an "educated buck". I wonder where he went to school. But seriously that is the cool part about what we do. These animals aren't robotic, they each have their own personality traits and whatnot! I hope Houdini slips up for you this year, he sure is a beautiful animal. Either way good luck to y'all this weekend and stay safe!
Looks like I may have another Hurricane drop in just in time for the weekend. Was hoping to get out and hunt but it is not looking to good.
I finally got my fence project done at home so I'm hoping to get out in the woods this weekend at some point. Going to hang a set and check one of my cameras this afternoon. No shooters on camera yet but that should change in the next few weeks...I hope... Several nice young bucks and some does so if nothing else, hoping to knock a doe down.
Pulled cam card today after an awesome hunt(no shot though) and it appears that my buck is alive. I have a couple 8 points running around my area, but I got a pic of the one I believe I shot last week only two days ago. Unfortunately the camera didnt get a clear picture of his side so I cant be 100% this is the one I shot, but I am confident it is him. He looked healthy, head up high, standing straight etc, better then I would look if I took an arrow to the brisket. Needless to say, his pattern has changed from a daily visit to the apple orchard at 10:00am to only once this week at 4:00am I am just happy that he is doing well at this point and I hope once he recovers a little more he will get back to his usual predictable self. Watch this buck become my Houdini if he survives rifle season this year!
I would change up my patterns too if somebody put an arrow through me... It's amazing how tough deer can be. That's awesome that he is alive and well! Hopefully he will offer you a chance for redemption. Good luck!!
I finally got to sit down at my computer! I got up to my mentors house around 6:15, I changed out of my funeral clothes and put on my hunting clothes and headed out to go scouting! about 1 1/2 miles away from his house is a bean field, we went to check that field and we looked out there and there were a couple of does a 7pt buck and a surprise big buck. He was at the other side of the field so we couldn't count the point, but he was t least a 125 buck, there was also a bigger buck but I didn't get a good look at him. We're going to sit there in the morning so hopefully I can get a big buck! The only downside is I have to use gun. But its going to be my last chance to gun hunt before I move. Good luck to whoever goes out tomorrow.
I missed a huge buck. It was a 200 yard shot. I've never missed a deer. I'll tell you what, this sucks.
Welcome to the real world!!! If I had a dollar for everytime I've missed. Lot at it this way, you didn't wound him and lose him. You'll get another chance!!
Now that the youth hunt is over I'm heading out in the morning with my bow to try and kill a deer! I'm hoping I can shoot a smaller buck I passed when I had a gun!
