Update on my buck, no sign of him and no birds or other scavengers have gathered. At this point I'm thinking I only clipped him and I am really hoping I get another shot at him, it would be better that he is alive instead of letting all that meat go to waste. I am going to let my area settle for the week, get back to hunting this friday or saturday and check my cams to see if he is on there.

Good luck to you all this week and dont rush your shots!

Hang in there, Josh. It happens. The only thing that made me think you whacked him was where you said blood sprayed out both sides. Heck, I'm over twice your age and I still get nervous when a deer comes out. It is worse with a shooter buck, but I still get it with all deer. Take this experience and learn from it. That is all your left with. It is a constant learning experience for me. If you ever lose the "get nervous" feeling, you need to give it up. Keep an eye on those cameras like you said, and see what happens. Them dang deer are tough!!
It sounds like you did all you could to try and recover that deer. Just keep after them.
Was it one of the ones you've been showing pic's of?

I believe it was the eight pointer I posted a pic of.

Edit: Honestly, from the time that I saw him until I shot was only about 30 seconds. Once I counted the points and saw he was atleast an 8 I tried not to look at the rack and just focus on the shoulder.

I was just curious. I know this time of year "new" bucks start showing up. You'll get another chance!! Remember, the glass is always 1/2 full!!

Another BBD for team 15. Shot around 6 yesterday evening. Wasn't sure about the shot and didn't see him go down so I backed out. Gave him 7-8 hours and went back in, he went about 80 yards and piled up.

If I could kill a buck like that, I wouldn't mind no sleep.
