Thanks buddy... nothing died though. Well, from me anyway. Uncle killed a nice buck, then Sunday my cousin killed his first buck with a bow. Pretty good weekend!

Nice shooting Greg! Sorry I’ve been MIA. Been fixing electric fences non-stop for the past week and a half. Decided to buy some beef cattle a few weeks ago to put on a 180 acre property I got out in the sticks. It was previously set up for beef cattle since I used to lease it out to a guy who raised like 100 head of cattle but he died like 5 years ago and it hasn’t had cows on it since. Hadn’t anticipated how much work it would take to fix up all the fences. They haven’t been maintained for 5 years and a lot of them run through the woods so it was a real mess. Plus it didn’t help that the dudes widow hauled off and sold the corral, chute, and even took the damn well pump, electrical panel, and wiring. On the bright side, I cut up so many down trees that I’m pretty much set for firewood for the next couple years. Been quite the learning experience considering I’ve never raised a single cow in my entire life. They arrived last Thursday and none have escaped yet so I guess that’s a positive.
Haven’t even hunted since the hurricane came through but don’t think I missed much. The wind from the storm stripped all the acorns off the trees all at once so there have been so many acorns on the ground that the deer havent had to really move around any to forage. They’re starting to get caught up on eating them now so they’re starting to move around again. About to head out now for an evening sit. Hopefully I still remember what I am doing.

Sounds like you've been busy! No deer on that 180 acres? I'd like to have a few cow's one day.

Been trying my hardest to get out and hunt. But sick kids again this week has me losing work, so all free time is to make up work. I do have plans with another guy to hunt Saturday morning. Then probably Sunday evening.

Any update from the rest of you guys?

Text mark yesterday. He's got a bunch of Doe coming in and one good buck on camera.

I'm trying really hard not to shoot one of my house doe until min November lol. Not sure how much longer I can hold out. I still do not have a shooter buck and the house to speak of. Last year they didn't show up until Oct 22. So who knows.

Surprisingly not that many deer overall and very few bucks. I have a couple stands out there and hunt it from time to time. The main reason I don’t hunt there much is because the property next door is an outdoor shooting range and they also have automatic weapons and a howitzer that their customers can rent out and shoot. It’s kind of hard to enjoy a nice relaxing hunt when people are mag-dumping m-16s and belt fed 50 cal’s and firing off the occasional artillery round a couple hundred yds away. Not complaining about it, the guys that own it are super nice and it’s a ton of fun to go shoot there, just doesn’t make for the ideal ambiance I want while hunting. Also, I am guessing that the daily reenactment of desert storm might have something to do with the lack of deer in that area… either by scaring them away directly or because they are so accustomed to gunfire that they don’t know they are supposed to run away and as a result they all end up just standing around and getting shot during rifle season.

You need to take two photos that show you, the truck bumper, and the deer for it to count. Or a dash cam video.

If the wind cooperates tomorrow, I’ll be back out after the big 4x4. It’s been out if the wrong direction for the past couple of days.

I have 19 more days until my draw hunt… I’m getting more excited everyday. Been working on arrows and getting broadheads sharpened.

I am going out tonight to move a stand and hang 2 cameras. Tomorrow kids coming home from college. Family night with them. Sunday is yearly big family gathering at a local lake. My daughters Volleyball tournament games start next week. Should win Monday, Wednesday will be tough match. Definitely free up time when season is over. Cough is about gone. Feeling pretty good. Goal is to be in stand on 21st.
