Had a decent sit last night. Seen 9 deer, 5 of which came by at 10 yards or less through out the evening. No bucks spotted. A group of 3 ran across a ridge and couldn't make out what they were. Had a huge doe come in right at last light. Stood directly behind my tree at 10 yards and didn't move for 10 minutes. Then after dark I was stuck in the tree. I just checked cameras today and the big 4x4 is missing again. I’m gonna have to go back and look and see when the last time I got him on camera was… I hope I didn’t blow him out of there. Hopefully he’s just on a weird pattern where he’s gone for a week and here for a week. As of right now, I’ll be going to the lease this weekend to check cameras and do some doe/pig hunting. I have no idea what’s up there this year as far as bucks go.
I had a buck like that in early season one year. I would write all his appearances on a calendar and keep track. After about 1 1/2 months I could see a pattern. Every 6th to 7th day he would show up. It was kind of crazy. It timed perfect for opening day. A storm blew in and I decided not to hunt him that day. I checked cam and he was there for 2 hours! I was so pissed. This buck that I killed in 2020 was on a 4 day pattern. Every fourth day he would show up 30 minutes before end of shooting light. I killed him on October 29th. It was raining on his “4th” day so he didn’t move, never got a picture. I went to the blind early the next day, the day I killed him because I just had a feeling he would come through there early and he did. He was my 3rd deer with a recurve and my biggest buck to date @133 4/8”. It’s crazy how some deer are on some sort of pattern and others are just so random!

sorry been alittle MIA. just got back from a couple days in maryland. no dice for me but saw two good bucks and 100 dinkers/does. might head back in two weeks or so. going to get back to the public grind in CT while i wait for MA to open on the 15th. Great buck greg, congrats!

Well I'm on dad duty today and staying home with 2 sick kiddos. The wife is out helping her mom. But tomorrow is my day. I will probably be able to hunt morning and evening. I really want to shoot a deer in the morning. I've been trying to remember my last morning deer. And all I can come up with is November of 2017. So almost 5 years since I shot a morning deer? man i have no clue but all i know is they have to many lol. maybe not 100 probably closer to 60-70 in 3 days. in my 5 years going i’ve never seen this many fawns though. wasn’t a wasted trip, went with 3 other guys and they got 5 does total.

Still have a pretty good cough from covid 3 weeks ago. Was outside all weekend working in yard cutting everything back and thought I pulled something in my neck and shoulders coughing so hard. Going to use this week to hang some cameras and move a stand that won't work because a few trees fell around it. Hopefully I will be able to get out in the next week or 2. My friends neighbor said there is a nice 10pt he saw a couple days ago.
