Feels almost like fall here today and it's killin me. Got to check the kill plot at my buddy's place, and it is doing great. He wants to do about 4 acres of turnip and winter wheat now! I was not expecting that, but I love it. He doesn't even hunt deer. We sat and watched about 5 does and one lone buck across the road while having a cold beer. Damn I love this time of year. What is everybody shooting this year? I wanted a new bow this year, but couldn't come up with 1400 clams for a loaded triax. Smh. I'll trot out the ole Drenalin one more season I guess. If I'm using the compound it will be my G5 Rouge set at 55LBs--- other wise it will be my Barnett Drop Tine xbow. Not to make excuses, but I'm 59 and have a gimpy right shoulder (old football/wrestling injurie) so the xbow will get more use in the field this year. I would rather hunt with the compound, but I just can't hold it on target like I use to.
2014 Mathews ZXT I shot Rage Xtreme for years and I have had great success with them but I am going to the Magnus Stinger this year for Elk. I haven't decided if I'll switch back to Rage for whitetail yet. I also switched to 5mm FMJ from Carbon Express Mayhem Hunter. 510 grains vs 425 gr
I've got a 2012 Martian Prowler Pro set at 62. It's not a very smooth drawing bow but it does the job. I bought it on the web without shooting it first so I can't complain. I'll never do that again though. I'll get something new and fancy one of these days. On another note, I got a chill the other morning walking out to the truck to go to work. It's getting close!!!! -D
I’m shooting a hand me down Matthews Classic at 28.5 inches and 70 pounds. Eaton 5mm axis arrows and 100 grain muzzy fixed blade broadheads. I’m also in the “one day I’ll get a nice new bow” category.
Well I checked a camera in a spot that usually doesn't get much action till fall/winter, and only had a doe with her twins on it. I moved it to get a known travel route after that. I'll let it soak another week. Tomorrow I'll be taking two stands in to set up. One is a ladder stand in a spot that has great cover on a heavily used trail but no real good trees for climber/lock on. The other is a lock on set up that is new and needs limbs cut and lanes trimmed. This is a spot I'm excited about since it has almost 270 degrees of shooting area between two heavy trails. Access is going to be a little tricky, because I will be out in the open for 30 yards without much cover. I can get low for 30 yards. It's getting close! Oh, and I will be scouting a 40 acre spot that I just got permission to hunt last night. A waitress at a local restaurant (we are regulars and friends with the owner) tells me her and her husband just bought property about 15 minutes from me. I straight out asked if she was opposed to me bow hunting it. She actually agreed on the spot. I have only lived here 2 years and finding private land to hunt has been a journey, so I consider that a score. It has deer on it, but who knows what the caliber is. If no good bucks are there, it is another doe destination in the least.
I'm shooting a 2018 Halon X at 70lbs. Just got a new sight the other day, Rocky Mountain 3 pin driver. Really excited about the sight. I've always shot Easton Axis arrows and these will be tipped with 100gr Ramcat originals. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Lol. Congrats on the post count . I did shoot it and wasn't fan. It's just too small and I felt like I needed a ton of weight on the front and side to slow the float down. Thanks! I may be on the fence between the two and need to go shoot each of them. I like the idea of the compact Triax and had heard it is dead quiet and dead in hand. I also am one of those people who need as much research and feedback on hunting equipment I can get. Since I won't do this purchase till next year, I have some time to pinch about 140,000 pennies.
No problem. I shot all the new bows in December and ended up getting a Hoyt Hyperforce. Didn't care for it so I went to what I like best, longer axel to axel bow, with a long brace height and over heavy bow. So far I really like it Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Dang that makes two of us! Never even let an arrow loose last year! Past a bunch of tweeners and had one dandy 10 pt at 15 yards but couldn't find an opening through the tree limbs. He would have went 160 easy. Did shoot a couple does and a nice buck with my muzzle loader. Here is the Euro mount I did out of his skull
